Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson had quite a story for when people asked their first case when they opened Nelson & Murdock. As of right now, it was still developing. The pair had gotten the call well after the sky had darkened, prompted by the likelihood of Foggy giving a poor old woman lung cancer. It had all the twists & turns of a paperback crime novel: a seemingly kind young woman suspected of killing her co-worker, a man she went on a date with, in addition to injuring her roommate. The kicker? Karen Page swore she didn't do it. Matt Murdock had chosen to believe her. Of course, he couldn't tell his partner that just yet.
"Uh oh," Matt heard Foggy breathe under his brief. He could hear the flicking of pages, the legal briefing and notes his associate had jotted down from a mere peek at the police file, somewhat absent-mindedly. Matt stopped short, sticking his cane in front of Foggy's foot to stop him as well.
"What's 'uh oh'?" Matt asked, suspicion lining his voice. He could hear the blonde man's heart speed up a bit as he sucked in a breath through his nose.
"Nothing!" Foggy replied, sidestepping the blind man's cane. Then, his pace quickened a bit. Matt reached a hand out to his associate's shoulder to ensure he wouldn't get away."Foggy..." Matt grumbled. He could still feel a soreness in his side, not that he could tell anyone the source of which. He heard his colleague sigh, leading him to the designated hospital room.
Nadya had always liked hospitals, so she felt at peace as the clean smell hit her nose and her eyes slowly opened to see the white sepulcher room, the white light from the window hitting against her skin as she shifted her head to the side at the sound of a glossy magazine page being turned.
"Adam," Nadya breathed, feeling air hit her lungs as she gazed at the young boy, he had a comic book pressed between his Cheeto-orange fingertips. "What are you doing here?" She groaned, shuffling upwards. The boy set his comic book to the side and sniffled slightly.
"Ruby said the café was closed because you were probably sick, she made me bring soup to your apartment-" he motioned to a white plastic-coated Styrofoam container on the small table beside her cot, condensation collecting on the clear top. "the rest was pretty easy to figure out, I got friends in high places Naddie." The brunette studied Adam for a moment as she shifted up, white comforter falling off of her hospital clad gown form, she winced a touch at the soreness that radiated up her back and shoulders- a sharpness stinging her from her leg as the events of the night prior were slowly returning to her.
"Did you see the apartment?" She hummed, quietly praying that she didn't. Nadya had always felt a sort-of maternal pang towards Adam ever since he had started selling lemonade outside of her place of employment. He was a good kid, the idea of him seeing some of the things that went on in her life sickened her.
