The pressure of this moment had been building and building within George for MONTHS before they finally got her two best friends in a call

Many ways they might react had crossed his mind, thoughtfulness, kindness, confusion, acceptance, denial, anger, hate

Eventually though, despite all the reasons piling up to NOT tell anybody, he needed to get it of her chest.

So there she sat, in a discord call with the only two people it truly felt he could tell, because surely, such a strong friendship wouldn't be changed by a few extra pronouns.

"GEORGE U IDIOT"

And after all the hype of how important this call was. He'd spaced out.

"Sorry, sorry I got distracted" she said with a shake of their head

"bro.. Ur the one who called US?"

There it was again.. sapnap using such an unassuming word sending stabbing pains through his mind

"I know, it's just hard to explain"

She supposed the serious tone in his voice was obvious enough to stop the previous laughter in sapnaps voice, dream's still unspoken.

"Shit have I done something?"

"No it's just.. this is kinda serious I suppose"

"Right okay, lay it on us"

"Ok so you know.. do you know a lot about pronouns?"

At that moment, dream decided to give his input, unable to stay silent for long.

"OH I KNOW THIS ONE" his voice clearly excited to share the little he knows "some ppl are she's and some are he's!"

There was a beat of silence before he added on to the end "oh yeah and they's"

The fact that gender neutral pronouns were more of an after thought didn't even register in George's mind, as long as they were included he must be supportive.. right?

"Yeah I suppose that's about right"

"Oh shit is this abt ur pronouns dude?" Sapnap said, before rushing to fix his mistake "not dude, gal, no pal wait shit"

This time, instead of a sharp dig in his skull he was left with a soft warm fuzz of happiness that he hoped never ended, sadly, good things don't last forever and the ending blow was waiting for him in the mouth of a faceless monster behind a screen

"Wait, so.. what is your pronoun?"

Although dreams question was completely logical, it stunned George for a moment. That moment of hesitation was all it took for sapnap to interrupt

"YOU DONT HAVE TO TELL US IF YOUR NOT READY" although loud, his statement was genuinely appreciated by George "we could like, use they for now"

"Thanks but.. I think it'll be fine to tell you" a deep breath and it spilled out of his mouth at lightning speed, how they understood a moment of it was beyond her understanding "she/he/they/it"

"and what about like... Bro, dude, man?" Although cautious, sapnap seemed genuinely unbothered by the new found information, dream on the other hand left no thought unspoken

"But like... How can you be a man and a woman and a person and an... Object?"

"Its not about gender it's pronouns" sapnap quickly explained

"yeah ok but then, what is he?"

Seeing dream not only confused but almost unable to accept the identity they worked so hard to discover was both angering and brought tears to her eyes.

Sapnaps anger on the other hand, allowed George to hide behind its safety barrier that is sapnap

"DOES IT MATTER? THEY'RE A PERSON?"

"I CANT.. WHY NOT JUST PICK ONE THOUGH?"

"YOU CANT JSUT.. CHOOSE? IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO FIND YOUR IDENTITY AND PEOPLE LIKE YOU MAKE IT HARDER"

"I've not said anything.. wrong? It just makes no sense, do you just.. call him one or the other?"

"No. You call her all of them"

"See that doesn't... Sound right. It's GEORGE he's a man we've never called him she"

"OH MY- EITHER START CALLING IT WHAT SHE ASKS OR FUCK OFF AND DONT COME BACK"

"But he's. She's. I don't. FINE FUCK YOU THEN SAPNAP"

The small ding echoing around his room told him that dream HAD in fact left and likely wouldn't return.

Despite hearing sapnap repeat their name multiple times, George simply left the call and fell straight into bed, curled up and absently facing the wall
