I sighed waiting in the back of the carriage. I had managed to pack a few extra clothes, and even fit in a quick shower. But here I was still waiting for that stupid Jesper.
Why did I even take on this job? I should've attempted to decline... I don't want deal with such an- such a- ughh I can't with this man...
"If you do this for me, good things will come to your future." The general's voice echoed in my head.
I'm pretty sure he said a year, that's fine. That's fine! I can do a year. I'll just deal with Jesper, and then after that, I'll be moving up the ranks!
But I have to deal with Jesper...
I decided to take my mind off of him for a little bit, glancing around my surroundings. I've never been to this area before. A beautiful fountain was next to the carriage, and a-
I jumped at the sudden opening of the doors, and a very loud Jesper that was thrown out of them.
"Do you know how long it took to press this uniform?!" He huffed straightening the fabric, "I don't either, but it took somebody hours!"
Uniform... He does look better in uniform than those god-awful robes he wears...
Not that it matters or anything...
The creaking of the wood and dip of the carriage alerted me.
"I've changed my mind, I'd much rather be with you than that Burghardt." A stupid grin was large on his face.
Oh god...
I sighed, "Whatever let's get going, looking at the map, we have quite a ways to go."
"Sure thing darling," He scooted closer to me, spreading his legs so that our thighs touched.
My brows furrowed, "I told you not to-"
"Yes, yes you did, but since it matches you so well I've elected to ignore your request..." He leaned in closer, "Darling~."
"I- You- If we don't get this carriage rolling, I swear to god I will kick you out, and roll over your damn skull."
Why did that get me so flustered? Such an asshole...

We headed out on our journey, I gazed back at the city in awe. It was beautiful from a distance, the greens and blues of the roofs were covered in warm sunshine. I was also trying to distract myself from a very pissed-off Jesper, angrily swatting at flys and mumbling some "thankyous"

Before I knew it, we were in the grassy plains, with incredibly tall mountains surrounding us. There were large ponds on either side of the carriage, reflecting the blue sky.
"Okay Jesper, there'll be a fork on the road ahead..." I looked down at the map, "You'll need to take a left up into the mountains."
There was silence...
"Jesper?" I turned to look up at him only to find his eyes already on me.
I looked down at his lips, a soft smile was adorning them, "You know I love it when you say my name..."
My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly flicked my head forward.
I huffed, "Do I have to resort to calling you asshole now?"

We were high up when the carriage shook violently.
Jesper groaned, "I think a wheel is loose..." He hopped out of the carriage, to assess the damage.
