Chanel

I normally woke up early so I could get some things done. I'd been home, unpacking, but Daddy called us all for a family game night and told us to plan to spend the night. It wasn't uncommon, normally it was hard to get families to come together, but my Daddy was good for it. I still had business to attend to, all of us did, but we'd forsake that for a night if only just to see us together, as often as needed. I sat lazily in bed in my teenage room, brainstorming some plans for my company, but since it was so early, I got lost in a podcast about two friends. It'd only played for moments before I got a phone call from him. It was ridiculously early, but only Nanami would be up before anyone else. He was a man that thrived off of the routine things in life.

"Kento? It's pretty early...wasn't expecting a call from you."

"It's been a couple of weeks, Chanel...", he spoke, voice deeper from the morning time. It made me quiver just a little. "...Forgive me if I'm being improper It's just-- after weirds of short strained texts and barely their conversation I...just wanted to hear your voice.", he responded.

I looked to my closed bedroom door, then to the clock. My family wouldn't stir for another hour, and he'd sounded so needy and desperate, which was not on-brand for him--so I gave him what he wanted, appreciating his efforts. I climbed out of my window and settled onto the roof, no longer worried about my family at all.

It was only meant to be for an hour, but our conversation flowed so easily, that I'd looked up to see about two had passed. I jerked up out of my rested position on the roof, my panic communicated over the phone. "I'm going to be late--holy shit I'm going to be late!", I cried out to him. Understandably, Kento ended the call as I slipped off the roof and stumbled onto my room's balcony, before climbing back into the window. When I climbed back in, my brother had just started knocking.

"Is everything okay, Chanel? You know you're going to be late for that one meeting you'd been bragging about.", Carey called out as I nodded to his voice, moving around madly in my childhood bedroom. "Yea, can you tell my assistant I'll be about 20 minutes late, but don't tell dad, please!"

"Twenty minutes?! Maybe I should tell him-"

"Carey, please!", I pleaded, grabbing today's outfit and opening up my connected bathroom, pausing for a moment to hear Carey's response. He sighed, muttering out a grudging 'Fine', and that was all I needed, slamming the bathroom door and moving frantically around as my conversation with Kento replayed in my head, only the best parts.

He called early because he'd been thinking about me..sure, every guy said that, but it was different coming from someone who had the world on his shoulders, not to mention a big corporation. But I couldn't get too excited just yet, my mother's intuition would eat me alive if I called myself slowly starting to 'fall'.

Plus, Kento was not the only guy I'd entertained, although, he was the one I would take seriously if the opportunity presented itself. I slipped out of the shower and freed my silk press from the shackles of my scarf as my hair cascaded in layer perfection down my back as I threw on my usual lotions and perfumes, a touch of makeup. In the background, I could hear Lucas and Carey arguing about this week's stocks, and of course, I didn't hear Adonis much at all. He was probably somewhere learning the history of the Cursed Technique.
