A boy in a tight black leather suit hops down onto a beanbag and sighs sadly. His lime green eyes look on the brink of tears.
"What happened?" I ask, scooching my bean bag closer to him.
"After the battle, Ladybug had just used her Lucky charm so I knew we had a few minutes and I pulled her aside. I gave her a card that I had written for her, saying how I feel. She read it in front of me and just said that she loved someone else. She just... stuffed the card in her bag and zipped away," He vents, raking his hands through his messy blonde hair. I did this? I realise.I still have the card on my desk. It was so sweet.
"I'm so sorry." I place my hand on his shoulder but he shrugs it off.
"Eh, it wasn't your fault. It's just... so hard. I've confessed my love for her more times than I can count and yet she still loves him." His voice breaks and he wipes his eyes, turning to me. "How's your pursuit going?"
My mood drops even more. "About as good as yours. At least you're brave enough to tell her. I freeze everytime I see him. Even so, I literally kissed him and he still says I'm 'just a friend.'" I angrily make air quotes. We sit in silence for a moment.
"Hey, Marinette?" Chat asks, smiling nervously.
"Yeah?"
"You've helped me so much with advice and just talking..."
"Hey, no problem," I interrupt, giving him a cheery smile.
"Yeah, well... I was wondering if you'd... want to go out sometime? Maybe get dinner..."
"Uhhhhh..." I sit frozen in shock.
"It-it doesn't have to be a date if you don't want it to be," He adds as my face turns bright red.
I take a deep breath and smile. "Yeah. I'd like that." Chat's face lights up and he stands up, cheerfully.
"Then, I'll see you here Sunday night at 7." He hops up onto the metal railing and pulls out his baton but I grab his arm.
"B-bye, kitty." I kiss his cheek and feel my face turn brick red. He smirks at me and swings away. I smile as his figure fades off into the distance. A thought enters my head and I explode with panic. "Oh, why did I do that? Why did I do that? I'm in love with Adrien, not Chat! I just agreed to go on a date with Chat Noir and I kissed him." I sink into my chair and Tikki flies through the trap door. "Tikki, I messed up so bad."
"I heard the whole thing." I groan. "Well, it seems you've gotten into quite a... predicament."
"I mean, I'm not... in love with him. I just..." I let out a frustrated scream. "I wasn't thinking, that's it," I tell myself and sigh. I stand up. "Well, I guess I'll just have to break his heart on Sunday." I descend my ladder and I change into my pajamas. I snuggle in bed, ignoring the pile of homework on my table. I have too much on my mind already. My eyes begin to feel heavy and I soon drift to sleep.
The next day, after defeating today's villain, Chat Noir stops me before I leave.
"Hey, Ladybug!" He says with a smile on his face bigger than I've ever seen.
"Yeah?" I ask.
"I just wanted to let you know that I have a girlfriend," He says and I sigh frustratedly.
"You've used this one before. I'm not gonna get jealous."
"No, I'm being serious." He states, glaring at me. "Her name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
"We're not supposed to know anything about our secret identities!" I say, angrily, as thoughts cloud my mind. I'm his girlfriend? I just agreed to one date. What is going on?
