Once Upon a Dream

Long ago in the kingdom of Aiferheim young peasant girl hums as she strolls through the forest, such a lovely little thing, she has only seen eighth summers in her short life. Her honey blonde hair bouncing as she skips through the early summer blooms. For within these woods there is no famine, no hungry nights, no upset papa or sad mama just her...and the beauty of the forest.

The little girl stops in front of a pale pink rose blossom, kneeling down to caress it's lovely petals in her short stubby fingers.

"Misses Rose? Have any fairies come by today?" silence met the girl as she bobbed her head up and down anyways. "Oh? No luck...I see.". The little girls chocolate eyes began to grow watery, however she tried to push them back. "Misses Rose, you're...withering aren't you?" silence once again as the girl nodded to herself. "Come on misses Rose...you gotta be strong! Ever since Grammy went to heaven you've be my only freind!". A single crisp petal fell from the rose as the girl pulled her hand away.

"No...misses rose please...." a single tear slipped down the young girl's cheek as yet another petal fell from the rose. "Please misses rose...before you go, could you check to see if their are any fairies around? Just one...last...time"

A petal fell yet again from the rose, however the wind carried it away. Curious the girl rose to her feet and followed it, past a the vines, over the bushes and around and old fir tree...

The girl saw something fascinating.

A pale young girl looking about her age, scrawny and pale with strange robes and long black hair reaching to her ankles. Pointed ears and nose, piercing green eyes but most extraordinarily two magnificently large black wings. Gorgeous and entrancing, resembling the pointed wings of a butterfly the girl couldn't help herself.

"You're beautiful...."

The creature quickly whipped around, eyes widening at the sight of a human girl. The creature stumbled backwards covering her face yelping "please! Dont look at me!" before falling backwards onto the ground. The human girl quickly approached and knelt by the creature "are you alright?!" the creature looked at her startled and...frightened. The human girl pitying the creature extended her hand out to her "you don't need to be scared! I just wanna be your friend!". The creature looked back up at the human suspiciously "My....'freind?' you...must not know what i am...". The creature hid it's face in shame once again as the human girl studied it. "Well... you have pointy ears, long hair, and wings...you must be a fairy! I've waited so long to meet one!".

The creature peaked at the human through it's hands still shielding its face. "b-but...I am no normal fairy...I am an...Unseelie. A hideous dark fae...I am a disgrace...please don't look at my disgusting face....".

The Unseelie girl hid her face once more, however her tears slipping down her face could be seen clearly by the human girl. Who gently stroked the unseelie's hair "disgusting? How are you disgusting?". "I...am not a Seelie...I can never be a beautiful fairy...a spring fairy.... I am an Unseelie...a bad fairy...an unlucky fairy...an ugly fairy".

The human girl pouted, putting her hands on her hips "you're not an ugly fairy at all! You're wings, eyes, and ears are prettier than any human i've ever seen!". The Unseelie looked up at the human girl, but said nothing. The human girl scratched her chin before her eyes lit up "hold on! Stay riiiiiiiggghht here!".

The human girl skipped off to the fairy's confusion was she running away? But she didn't seem frightened...not in the least. Just a moment later the young girl returned, a pale rose in her hand "this is my friend misses Rose! She's not gonna live much longer...but maybe she'll be happy with you!". The Human girl knelt in front of the Unseelie gently placing the rose in her dark hair, to the unseelie's bewilderment. The human girl knelt back and scanned her eyes over the fairy, satisfied with her work.
