OCEAN GIRL—TOTAL WORD COUNT: 12,921.

This isn't too much of an impressive wordcount for me, since a few of my chapters in a regular book would amount to this much, but for a short story, it is kind of cool. It did turn out longer than I expected, though.

I want to thank everyone who's read the previous version, Beach, and supported that book. Truthfully, I wasn't always sure of the concept of Beach and I believe that my writing has improved very much since I first wrote it. (actually, I die of cringe every time I read it.)

Yeona's character feels so much more improved, more—solid, in a way, than she was in Beach, and I think I handled Heeseung's character arc much better in Ocean Girl. The storyline is less rickety and overall, it seems more mature than before. Also, I'm a huge fantasy enthusiast and I couldn't resist blending myth and reality.

Leaving it as it was didn't do any justice to my account, the way I see it, since I only want the best to be seen—both for you guys who deserve the best and for my own improvement as a writer. I'm sorry to everyone who liked Beach and wanted it to stay, but my decision is final. Maybe one day I'll bring it back, since I'll always, always keep a copy of it with me as a reminder of early writing days. But for now, keep the original Heeseung and Yeona in your heart for me.

The next round of thanks is due to everyone who supported my decision to rewrite Beach into Ocean Girl. Announcing my decision was a hard choice for me to make, and I'm so glad that I received nothing but support. I'm aware I kept the ones who were eager for the rewrite waiting for a while, but now that it's done with, I hope you enjoyed it and that it lived up to your expectations.

See you all in the next book as soon as I can publish it, detailing the second sister and Sunghoon's story!
