The glorious sunrise slowly cast away the shadows that had previously covered Monster Island in the dead of the preceding night. As the rays of light slowly crept across the trees that layered the island, a long tail and numerous spines rose from the treeline near the shore. Godzilla had been living on the island with his titan companions, Rodan and Mothra, for the few months that had passed since Godzilla defeated King Ghidorah in Boston, and was enjoying the peace that the world was in now that his arch enemy had been brought down.

Mothra had recently reincarnated after her death to the three-headed dragon in the Boston fight, and had been living in a cave on the side of the mountain that rose from the island's center ever since. Rodan had made a lava pit on the southwestern side of the island his home, often residing right beside the molten rock that the pit contained in order to sustain his hard shell of volcanic rock. Godzilla often stayed close to the shore in case he was needed elsewhere, so he could get to the ocean quickly. But with the other titans at rest and humanity slowly rebuilding from the damage that had been done a few months prior, he woke up with a sense of relief and happiness almost every single day.

As the kaiju king stood up from his resting spot, he looked out to sea as the sun rose up over the distant horizon. "Looks like another good day is beginning", Godzilla thought to himself as he watched the sun slowly rise up from the waterline. He took a seat on a large hill to relieve the stress that would have eventually arisen from him standing in one spot for too long. As he breathed in and out slowly watching the sky go from dark gray to a bright gold and blue, he heard the familiar sound of wings beating and turned to see Mothra coming in for a landing beside him. With a slight grin of peace, he turned back to face the ocean as Mothra landed beside him. "I don't know if I'll ever get over the level of peacefulness I have right now, Mothra", he said with a calm voice, turning to face Mothra as he did. "It's quite the relaxing life, no denying that."

"I can say the same thing, Gojira", Mothra answered with the soft tone she was known to use. "The world really is in a state of peace and relaxation." Godzilla couldn't agree more with the little moth kaiju, it truly was a joy living on Earth at the moment. "Should we check on Rodan? I haven't seen him leave the pit for a while", Mothra asked with a slightly more concerned tone in her speech. Godzilla slowly gave a nod to Mothra and stood up to head to where Rodan had set up his roost. He was lying face-down on the hardened rock near the pit, and appeared to still be asleep. "For a kaiju that's always full of energy, Rodan sleeps in quite a bit", Godzilla said with a slight laugh in his voice. And he wasn't wrong, as Rodan often did sleep late even though he would be extremely hyper when awake. Mothra personally liked it when he was sleeping as it meant she wouldn't have to listen to his constant babbled speech when he was awake and full of energy. However, it was unlike him to sleep in so late. The sun was now a good bit above the water and it was full-on daytime now, yet he was still sleeping like a baby.

"I think we should just leave him be for now, just so we won't have to deal with his crazy shenanigans for a while", Godzilla whispered to Mothra. Mothra was about to answer to Godzilla's statement when a slew of loud footsteps approached them. They both turned around to see Barb, the queen Muto, standing nearby. Godzilla rose a finger up to his mouth, signalling to Barb that she had to stay quiet. "We want to see how long Rodan will stay asleep, it seems he's sleeping in today", Godzilla whispered to her. Barb gave a nod to the alpha kaiju, as she was actually curious on how long Rodan could sleep in one sitting. Normally, Godzilla wasn't one to show any other traits other than being a protective and aggressive defender of Earth, but since there was no need for that now that the titans were hibernating once again, the giant reptilian titan resorted to playing boulder kickball, a sort of kaiju game where two or more titans bat a large boulder back and forth between each other.

Even though the sound of titan skin striking stone was very loud, Rodan was such a heavy sleeper that even the loud noise created by the game wasn't enough to wake him up. Godzilla started the game, and for a good while they continued. Even after 2 hours, Rodan still hadn't woken up from the noise. Mothra even gave a look of concern at the giant avian titan, wondering if he had actually died in his sleep. It wasn't like him at all to sleep this long. "How in the world is this man sleeping so long?", she wondered to herself. For a brief moment she thought back to how she had impaled him with her stinger in Boston and suspected he may still be experiencing some of the paralyzing effects from the sting.

After the game had been going on for close to 3 hours, Barb made her mistake. She decided to ramp the game up a bit and used the force of her electromagnetic pulse to send the boulder flying at Godzilla. However, it flew at him too fast, and he had to dodge the flying stone. The boulder ended up flying right to the lava pit and crashing to the ground close to Rodan, shattering into millions of pieces in the process. The sound awoke Rodan with a start, and he jumped to his feet. "What in the name of tacos was that?!", he shouted. Seeing that her EMP shot had accidentally woken up Rodan, Barb audibly gulped with guilt. Rodan noticed her face and gave a reassuring expression to her, allowing her to relax. After finding a new boulder, Rodan joined the trio in their game.

Later in the afternoon, Mothra and Rodan left to check the other titans around to see if they had all gone back into hibernation. Godzilla decided to spend the rest of the day swimming in the water around the island, while Barb chose to remain on land near the cliffs area of the island. However, as Godzilla continued to enjoy himself in the ocean water, he couldn't shake a thought he had in the back of his titan brain. It was a nervous, concerning thought that maybe he wasn't done fighting just yet. There was something else that could possibly be seeking to threaten his position as the kaiju king, and no matter how much he tried to shake the feeling, it just wouldn't leave his head. "I really hope I'm just being paranoid...", he thought to himself, not wanting to fight again so soon.

Mothra was the first to return back to the island, and by then it was late in the afternoon. But when she landed on the shore, Godzilla was nowhere in sight. After looking around the whole island, even searching the nearby water, she finally found him sitting alone on a cliff up on the island's mountain staring out across the ocean. But there was something different about him. He seemed to have a distant look in his eyes, as if worried about something. And from the stressed expression his face had, she concluded he had been sitting there for some time. "Gojira? Is something wrong?", she asked while tapping his tail with one of her forearms. After a slight pause, he turned around to face her. "Yes, Mothra. Something is wrong..", he answered in a low, almost lethargic voice. "I've had a thought in my head for the past few hours now and I can't shake it." Mothra wasn't one to let her fellow titan's feelings slip so easily, as her primary duty when a titan is feeling down was to comfort them. So her caring instincts took over and she immediately set about helping comfort Godzilla. "Can you explain to me what you're thinking, if you do I can help you", she stated to the giant kaiju. Godzilla slowly looked at Mothra with a distraught look, but knew he could trust her. "I just....can't get rid of the feeling that it isn't over yet. I have the bad feeling that there's still more titans out there that want to challenge me for the title of alpha. I'm so nervous that Ghidorah wasn't the end of it..", he told Mothra while trying not to sound too stressed. Mothra could honestly understand his feelings, as she had been experiencing the same thing in her head as well. But since she didn't really think much on the matter, she wasn't bothered by it too much. "Well, I have been having the same thought as you, Gojira. But as long as we stick together as a titan team, we can take care of anything.", she encouraged the giant reptile.

Godzilla's face slowly changed from stressed to relaxed again. He knew Mothra was 100% right. With the number of titans at his side, there was nothing the Earth's titans couldn't handle. He turned to look out across the ocean again to see Rodan flying in from the south. He had just finished his patrol of the Americas and landed at the feet of Godzilla. "All the titans in the American continents are hibernating right now except Behemoth. He was trying to find his hibernation spot in the Amazon and I helped to guide him back.", he stated to Godzilla. Godzilla nodded to Rodan to say "good work" and he turned his attention back to the glistening ocean water that stretched for miles. He then watched as the sun went down later in the evening, with Mothra, Rodan and Barb at his side. However, as the sun went down and they prepared to go to sleep for the night, they had no way of knowing that something WOULD happen...
