GEORGE PACED his apartment, the clock had already struck two but he didn't want to seem too eager, too forward with his second date with Rory. He recalled how his heart soared when she asked if their movie night could be a second date, how easy it truly was to be casual over text. He had considered calling Dream and Sapnap for advice but thought against it, he was going to handle this on his own. Sure, George could be a nervous stumbling mess. Sure, George got lost in Rory's eyes and her smile. And hey, could you blame a guy for daydreaming? But he was determined to handle this date without any help.Ten minutes after two, he was seriously considering calling Rory. She was never late and she never tried to be, when she was late she got anxious (George had learned this fact from their question game). Just as George was about to send a checkup text, Rory knocked on the door. Or so George thought. He was disappointed to see that it was only the pizza he had ordered and not the girl he had fallen for.
"I'm gonna call her," George mumbled to himself. He pulled out his phone and hesitated, unsure of what he should do. He put his phone back in his pocket and drummed his fingers against the kitchen counter.
Why was this so difficult?
"George! George I'm here, I hope your door is unlocked!"
He heard her muffled voice from the hall and Rory stumbled into his apartment, completely breathless.
"Oh, thank god that was unlocked! Sorry I'm late, I was training a new employee," Rory huffed, her chest heaving. George chuckled with a tilt of his head, "You alright there?"
"I'm about to pass away, perish, whatever you want to call it. I hate being late," Rory replied tiredly, leaning her hand against the back of the door for support. George opened his arms tentatively with an eyebrow raise, Rory not even waiting two seconds before rushing into the embrace.
"God, your hugs are like magic," Rory mumbled. "Even if you're short."
George loosened his arms and looked down at Rory as her green eyes peered up at him. "Short? Rory, you're the short one."
"Shush," Rory muttered, melting into the hug.

The two had begun watching A New Hope, Rory uttering the lines silently as she watched the movie with her full and undivided attention. George had to admit that he caught himself staring at Rory a few times, to which she caught him and gently pressed her fingers against his chin and tilted his head back toward the television screen.
"Look at him go! With Han by his side and with Vader out of the picture, he can blow up the Death Star!" George shouted, finding himself finally immersed with the film. Rory nodded up and down, bouncing a bit on her couch cushion. The second Luke blew up the Death Star, George and Rory cheered and yelled with excitement, grasping onto each other as they watched the screen animatedly.
"Look at you! A dedicated Star Wars fan after just one movie!" Rory said with a laugh, her lips sore from smiling. George's lips were parted as he ran a hand through his hair, some of the ends sticking up on end, his lips also adorning an excited grin.
"I can see why you adore these movies so much. Can we start another?"
They didn't waste another second before starting Empire Strikes Back.
"Han and Leia are definitely flirting," George pointed out. Rory giggled, "Who can ever tell? The way they talk to each other on Hoth is a prime example."
"I owe you so much for getting me into this franchise," George sighed happily. Rory nudged George's shoulder, "I just see it as charity work."
"That's how it's going to be?" George asked, his eyebrows raised. Rory pretended to take a moment to think before nodding with a wild grin, "I think so."
"You're wicked, Rory Harlow."
"You love it, George Davidson."
George smiled as he shook his head at Rory, her happy mood contagious. Her eyes met his and all of a sudden, they were back in the art museum, lost in their own world together. George's eyes darted from Rory's eyes to her lips and she nodded ever so slightly, signalling to him that this was what she wanted. Their faces moved closer together and before they knew it, they were centimetres apart, their lips one move away from connecting.
"You sure we won't get interrupted this time?" Rory teased, although her voice was shuddering.
"I don't care if we do," George said lowly, before closing the distance between him and Rory. His hand met the side of her face and her lips met his, the experience even more blissful than either of them had imagined. Her lips were the softest thing he had ever felt, emotion flowed through them. She didn't want to part from him, all she felt was him. All she knew was him.
His other hand drifted to her back to push her closer, he wanted her as close as possible. She let him pull her in. It wasn't until a loud sound effect emitted from the TV that they pulled apart, Empire Strikes Back had continued playing innocently. Both breathless and blushing, George and Rory smiled giddily.
"That was—"
"Wow."
Rory ran a hand through her hair and cleared her throat, "Guess I can cross off making out to Star Wars off my bucket list."
George laughed, relieving her.
"Well I can cross Star Wars and making out off mine," George joked. Rory giggled, "Look at you go, quite an eventful night for you."
And just like that, they were back to the relaxed and casual people that they were around each other. Rory cuddled up to George for the rest of the marathon and he let her, wrapping a secure arm around her back, her head resting on his shoulder.
They wouldn't have had it any other way.
