You've got to be kidding me.
This is definitely a joke.
I glance at it hardly.
I turn back around but the wall behind me is closed. "Is this some kind of joke?" I shout. "Get. Me. OUT of here!" I shout again. No, and no, and definitely not. I am not even going to try to escape this. This is death itself!
The countdown appears a few meters away from me, I glance at it. Nineteen hours left it says. I look back down, hesitant, trailing my eyes slowly on the wall ahead until I reach it. I don't know how I'm supposed to describe it, but this? This is damn scary.
Eyes as dark as a night sky, a stare as deadly as its fangs. Its hunger breathing through its salivating mouth, and keeps on growing even bigger from the smell of pure fresh meat and blood. Its sharp nails greasing into the floor holding back its famine.
A dog.
Wait, no.
A Pitbull, to be precise.
This damn monster is larger than my kid, these things are deadly, especially when they look like they haven't eaten in like five days. Because this 'dog' definitely looks hungry.
Despise this monster, that's in a cage in the middle of the room, there are two wooden tables on both corners of the room. Both have lanterns on top of them. However, one is on and one is not.
To my surprise, more like a shock, my way out, the door basically, is right behind that cage. Behind the cage that has a deadly dog inside.
Incredible.
I don't have a key to open the door. I don't even know where to start.
There is a hungry dog eager to feed on me, and less than nineteen hours to get out of here.
What am I supposed to do?
. . .
Five random minutes pass by, and I'm still standing there trying to think of something, but my mind is completely blank. Five minutes pass by from the very first second I entered this room. Five minutes pass by and a loud ring arises waking up all of the hairs on my body. It echoes in the room, and when it fades the cage door of that monster slightly slides down making a little opening.
Oh gosh.
No way. This is definitely not happening. Now is definitely the time to act up.
I'm hesitant but I walk forward anyways, the dog's deadly eyes fixed on me. As I walk closer to it, it starts barking. I gasp and a slight terror poisoning stirs in my blood. I approach the right corner of the room, where the wooden table with the turned off lantern stood.
I examine it. From all sides.
Then go to the second wooden table and do the same.
What I conclude is very obvious. The electrical connection of the first lamp was definitely loose. However, the one on the second lamp was plugged into the wall, which clearly shows why the lantern is on, and why the other isn't.
I walk around the room searching for any other useful clue, but there is absolutely nothing.
18: 50
The cage door slides down a little more. This time the dog's mouth is able to fit in the opening.
Great.
I go back to the lanterns since there's nothing else to go back to but those two clues which I sincerely haven't yet analyzed.
Maybe I should put the other wire in the wall, maybe if they both lit up, the dog would magically disappear and the door would open wide, and I'd see my lovely family waiting for me on the other side. Oh, what a lovely dream.
Not the right time, man. Focus.
My instincts say not to do it. Not to put it in the wall, not to turn it on, but I do it anyway. When I slowly put the wire in the wall, I realize that the lantern didn't turn on, but something else happens. Something that shakes all of the nerves in my body. Something horrible.
The cage starts sliding down nonstop, and the dog fighting to get out. I panic, trembling, shaking. What should I do?
I, without thinking, remove the plug from the wall directly and the cage stops sliding down. It doesn't close back. It just stops.
I glance at the clock.
18: 43
I've still got two minutes or I'm food for the night. Two minutes and that dog goes free. I don't even stop to think. I rush to the second lamp to remove the wire from the wall. What happens next is what determines my situation for the night. I'm either food, or a free guy.
Two things happen at the same time when I unplug the wire. The door opens, and to my surprise the dog is asleep...
I'm not sure how and when did that thing fell into its dreams like a baby, but I don't care cause that's a good thing. I slowly jump over the cage, my heart beating faster than wind in a storm.
I get out of the room, and I'm not sure if this is fate, or some kind of bad luck, but I'm sure the world has done nothing but injustice to those who've fallen in the hands of the evil.
Is this an escape or an unending reality dream?
Maybe just a life lesson.
