We passed through many obstacles that we overcame. Ones that made me pee my pants, and others that gave me a life lesson. The poor man I shot can't leave my mind. I don't know how I am supposed to live on with that guilt.
Yeah, live. You read that right.
We're alive.
We've reached the end of the maze. The gates to the life I've never embraced, but one I've missed so much. And I am proud to tell that I didn't have to kill anyone another than you know.
I'm happy I'm alive. I am, but like how am I going to tell my family what I just experienced? How would they live in the same house with a murderer? Who would even believe me?
If I told my family that I killed someone, they're going to be scared and neglect me, and if I went to the police, told them I had to kill somebody, or I'd die, they definitely won't believe me and put me in jail. That's how my life is going to be after all this.
Denial, guilt, fear, regret, and pain.
Maybe the best way to live is to not tell anyone. Maybe I should just live on with my guilt. Yeah, maybe I should.
. . .
"I never got to know your name," I tell the man that saved me, the one that helped me stay alive, as we walk out the gates into a forest with unending trees.
"Alex," he responds.
"Oh, Alex. I have a friend named Alex too. Thank you so much for saving my life. I don't think I could've made it without you."
"Oh, no problem mate, give ya'self a break."
"What did you just say?" Alex's accent changed to one I've heard before, to a sentence I've heard before.
"You know," Alex turns around walking forward into the forest. "I never thought you'd be that smart completing the game, I mean the clues weren't that direct, right?"
What is he saying?
"I was wise picking to help you in this game," he looks me in the eyes.
"Game?" I stutter, confused and lost.
"Oh, this beauty right there?" he points at the maze we just left from. "Such a hard work building it, took me years."
"What are you saying?"
"Keep in mind, creators are always allowed to play," he winks at me and walks leaving behind my mind full of questions and mysteries to unfold. A voice I'd never forget, an unforgettable escape, and one that'll leave a damn scar in my mind.
