For the sake of the story, Noritoshi Kamo and (y/n) are both 22, Naoya Zenin is 25, Satoru Gojo 26.

Reader POV

I walked alongside the stallion, Maki and Mai underneath my cloak as the rain pelted down.

We had crossed into the Gojo empire after I had showed my infinity mark that every citizen received at the age of 6, careful to shield my face away.

"Girls," I called to them once we got to my family house hours later.

Maki awoke, staring at me as she lifted the cloak a bit. "Yes, Lady (y/n)?"

"We're home. And there's no need to call me Lady." I said.

Maki hopped off the horse, not caring if she was getting drenched.

I held Mai's hands as we walked into my family's huge castle, careful to open the door the right way.

"Lady (y/n)!" The guards and servants were all shocked to see me as I had ran away from home six years ago.

"Your father will know you are here-"

"I already know."

All of us looked up the stairs to see my father dressed in black, a blank expression on his face.

He walked towards us with his shoulders back and head up, putting his hands on my shoulder with emotions now bubbling in his eyes. "My daughter. You have returned."

Father peeked over my shoulder. "And you have bought daughters."

I nodded, having already explained to the girls that I would become their mother as theirs entrusted me to protect them when she died. "Yes. Fuquin, this is Maki and Mai, my girls."

"Hello," Mai said softly to her adopted grandfather.

"Hello," Maki said more confidently. "I'm the oldest twin."

My mother's voice interrupted us. "(y/n), I thought you were a servant of Prince Naoya Zenin?"

"I am. I will explain everything later." I turned to a servant. "See to it that they are bathed and dressed before dinner."

Once the girls were away, I filled my parents in on everything that happened for the past six years.

"We had heard you exchanged your freedom for peace in the empires," Father said solemnly once I was done speaking. "And that you have become a bride to a Zenin prince."

That part isn't true but because of the girls, I have to lie. There is no way my parents would let me keep them safe here if they found the twins were Zenins and not of Zenin-Gojo heritage.

Ever since the Zenins raged war with the Gojos and killed Gojo Katsume, no one looked kindly on either side.

In fact the only neutral sides were the Kamo and Itadori empires.

"Yes, but I have escaped."

They nodded. "And we shall protect you."

The door opened and in came the girls dressed in fine hanfus, smiles on their faces.

"My my!" Mother rushed over to bask in the glory of her granddaughters, smiling. "You two look so beautiful."

"And they seem to take after their father," Father observed. "But delicate and beautiful as you are."

Delicate isn't a word I'd use to describe myself.

Dinner was served and for the first time in a very long time, the girls were fed.
