Bloom is one of the four fairies who did not receive their Enchantix in their own realm, although she earned it by saving her realm itself. Musa received her Enchantix at Alfea (although she earned her Enchantix by saving the Princess of her realm). Tecna received her Enchantix on Andros. An escapist by nature, she has a tendency to run away when things get too hard or confusing for her, and can also be impatient and stubborn, with a short temper. Bloom was also impulsive at times, which led to some very bad experiences for both her and her friends. Bloom is the most powerful fairy in the magical dimension. This is because her source of power is the Dragon's Flame - the greatest, most ancient magic ever to exist that created all things. In the original, Bloom's biological parents are Oritel and Marion, the king and queen of the realm of Domino. The season revolves around Bloom, a 16-year-old girl from Earth who discovers she has magical abilities, as she enrolls in the Alfea College for Fairies. Along with her newfound friend Stella, a 17-year-old fairy, Bloom meets her apartment roommates Flora, Musa and Tecna. Together, they form the Winx Club. With Domino restored to its former glory, Oritel is freed from stone, placing Marion back in human form; Bloom's Enchantix power is complete, and she is finally reunited with her birth parents.

Bloom and Sky are a couple featured in Winx Club. They are formally introduced to each other by Stella in Season 1, with Sky being introduced under the name "Brandon" due to assuming his squire's name for security purposes. This leads to Sky asking Bloom to be his princess at the end of the first movie, The Secret of the Lost Kingdom and formally asking Bloom to marry him towards the end of Magical Adventure. In both instances, Bloom accepted happily, and the two have been engaged ever since.
