"Ahhh" I said as I sank deeper into the hot springs.
"The is the life and I never want it to stop!" My best friend Isa said as she sank in with me.
"Hey, Isa."
"Hmm" Isa hummed gently as she wiggled her toes
"How do you feel about miguel?" I shyly asked as I rubbed my arm with the hot water
"You mean your neighbor Miguel? As in the man whose solemnly had a crush on you since you moved into that home...miguel?" She repeated as the sides of her lips inched higher upwards to expose a wicked smirk.
"Yes that Miguel... I've been thinking lately about possibly taking him on the offer of marriage."
"WHAT?! He proposed?!?" Isa yelled as she splashed like a fish out of water
"Yes! Well...kinda I mean we are both at the age now, and my abuela is getting older and I'm sure she would like to see her grandkids." I said as I watched the ripples through the water disappear and add more every time I moved.
"Is that what you want though y/n" Isa asked saddened by your lack of opinion in your own life.
"Maybe..." you said before snapping out of it "welp, I'm all clean and relaxed! Let's go we have a lot of work to do today!"
Isa replied with an ugh and stood up and followed you out of the hot springs and back to the village of Casíano. That was our village name, everyone had the same last name and so we created the village of casíano ironically. We have lived her for many years and my family and I finally moved to a bigger house thanks to my sister expecting.
Miguel was a guy who was our neighbor, we honestly thought he was going to be my sisters husband but then he grew a liking to me. But something about him felt...off. Like he wasn't fully there, like there was something he was hiding from the rest of the village; which was hard seeing as we were small enough to say hello to someone all the way down the other end of the village and they'd hear us.
But, he was something...something that could help my abuela see her dreams come true.

I walked into our home and laid my now soaked clothes into our basket to be hung, I changed and walked into our kitchen."
"Hola mamí" I said as I quickly sat onto our kitchen chair
"Y/n where were you? It's getting later and later into the afternoon, you know your papí and I, plus abuela all need your help around the house." Your mom said as she turned another batch of roasted tomatoes into the boiling pot that was going to be dinner tonight.
You mocked her slightly hearing it all before, and said "what about Gabriela?"
"You know she can't do much to help have a healthy bab-" you were mocking your moms voice and words right off the top of your head knowing what her exact response would've been when you asked that question, your mother knew this and stopped short to turn around and face you.
"Y/N! Will you be serious and just go do your chores please niña!" Your mother stomped out of frustration to your mocking.
"FINE!" You said shooting up now and storming outside, cussing in Spanish under your breathe you threw the door open to find no other than Miguel standing outside ready to knock.
"Y/n! Hola! Uhmmm...I was wondering if you had some time to-" he was cut short by your response "no, I have chores miguel..please leave" and you stormed towards the mountains to collect wood. He followed after you as once again you started cussing in Spanish.

Shortly up the hill you turned on your heels to face miguel like he was a lost puppy.
"Miguel please" you started
"Y/n please listen to me there is something I want to ask you and tell you." He said interrupting your other sentence
"Ok and what is that?" You asked still irritated at the puppy of a man and slightly curious as to what he needed to say.
"Well." Miguel started "there's this thing that I've been working on...and it got me involved with some pretty bad people..BUT! It could really help the village, possibly so my question for you mí amor is.. If the village changed would you still be by my side?" He asked as he reached for your hand.
You couldn't put your finger on it, but your stomach turned. You felt a terrible presence in your gut as you watched this man whom was your neighbor reach his hand out to you.
You hadn't realized how long you two were standing there until you saw the sun start to kiss the mountain side and realized how late it had gotten.
You started down the mountain trying to brush miguel off.
"Mí amor?" Miguel asked trying to get your attention.
"I don't know what you are hiding miguel but whatever you got going on keep me and mi familia out of it." You said as you started again down the steeped hill. You never gathered firewood because of this buffoon you thought, your mom is going to be so upset.
"I'm deeply saddened to hear that mí amor...I really wanted you around to see the new village..." miguel mumbled under his breathe as he now looked down upon you with evil eyes that suddenly glowed red and orange.
"What the-" demon? You thought..a witch! How is he doing that?! That's when it hit you...that wasn't his eye color..it was a reflection.. a very large reflection..then you heard it...a piercing scream, one you will never forget. You turned and faced the village to see fire. A raging wildfire with the village in flames and screams reaching the air from the mountainside. Your heart dropped...no... you sprinted, faster than you have ever ran, down the mountain through the woods, not caring how bad you got scraped up.
