I darted from the quad to the lunchroom. I was out of breath when I got to our table. Abigail gazed at me peculiarly.
"Why are you so late? There are only 5 minutes of lunch left." she notified.
"I have news to tell you about Chris." I gasped.
She moved uncomfortably in her seat as I sat down.
"What happened?" she allured.
"Okay to make this long story short, Chris asked me to play this love game with him."
Her eyes widened in fear.
"What kind of love game?""We act like a couple. Go on dates, kiss, hold hands and stuff like that. Whoever loses get humiliated by the whole school."
Abigail restrained.
"Oh my god Pay, what did you get yourself into?" she questioned.
"I didn't say yes but I really want to. I'm not the one who's going to get humiliated." I smiled.
She contemplated for a while then beamed.
"Do it, play his game. Make him suffer."
I inclined. First, I have to tell my brother, he definitely needs to be on board with everything.
The bell rang to go to the 6th period, the last period of the day. I tapped my fingers on my desk, checking the clock once in a while. Eventually, the bell rang and I raced out of the classroom trying to beat everybody who was also eager to go home. My brother was already there when I got to his car, I could see the distress in his eyes. We both got in at the same time then got out of the school."So, Chris told me." That was all he said.
"Told you what?" I interrogated.
"That stupid little game you guys are playing. And to tell you the truth Paige, when I heard that it hurt me. I specifically told you to stay away from him and you disobeyed my orders." He raised his voice.
"Don't raise your voice at me because I didn't even say yes. I told him you had to be okay with this. Plus, I'm only trying to play his game back. I'm tired of his inadequate ego. He's really starting to make me mad." I fought back.
One thing I knew for sure was that I was not going to go down without a fight. I wasn't the one who was going to break, to fall in love and I informed my brother about that. I sighed.
"Come on Damian, let me just do this. I could handle it. I promise I won't fall in love with him."
He shook his head and rolled his eyes. My brother can sometimes be a pain.
"Fine, but if he hurts you please don't bring me in the middle. Whatever happens, is between you and him. I don't want any part in this."
I squealed in excitement. For the first time, I was going to play a guy. Pretend that I love him when in reality I could care less about him. I ran into my room and waited patiently for Chris to get here. About 10 minutes after I got to my house, I heard angelic voices coming from downstairs and I smiled to myself because I knew that Chris was one of them. Footsteps echoed around my whole house, 5 boys causing that to happen. I heard people come up and down the stairs, yet nobody knocked on my door. I was starting to get desperate. I exhaled the breath I was holding in. You know that feeling you get when you know something is going to come but you don't know when? That feeling you get when your heart feels like it's going to pop out of your chest? Well, I had the feeling right about now.
I shook my head in disappointment when 1 hour passed; 2 hours passed; 3 hours passed and nothing happened. I walked downstairs and went into the kitchen to get myself a cherry Dr. Pepper. I opened the can and was heading back upstairs. I was walking down the hall appalled that my door was open. I stayed there frozen for a while scratching my head. I swear I closed my door before I left my room. I took no notice of it and walked in, closing the door behind me. I turned around and yelped in panic. Chris was sitting on my bed and I didn't even know. I held my hand to my chest and took deep breaths, I could feel a heart attack coming soon.
He just laughed. He laughed and laughed and laughed.
"It's not that funny," I said lightly punching him in the arm.
"Yeah, it was." He replied holding his stomach.
He was going to die if he didn't stop laughing. He simmered down then looked at me. I simply cannot look at him without melting a little bit. Those eyes are traders for sure.
"So, what's going to happen?" He asked me as he laid down on my bed.
"About what?" I acted confused.
"Don't act dumb, the game. Are you in or not?"
I nodded my head.
"But you can't cheat. If you do, you automatically lose. So that means you need to break up with your... ugh." I couldn't even say her name.
"Already done," he smirked. "The game starts tomorrow so get ready."
I nodded my head. So as of tomorrow, I was going to be taken by some jerk. He left my room to join his friends downstairs. I sipped my Dr. Pepper and watched t.v as a thought slipped through my mind. What exactly did I get myself into?
