Summer

During the train ride to Hogwarts I went over the events of this summer. I still couldn't put the pieces together.

FLASHBACK
I was laying on dads shoulder reading 'little fires everywhere' by Celeste Ng when someone began pounding on the door.

He shook the blanket off and jumped to his feet , as if he was expecting whatever lied outside our front door - so eager to get in.

"Upstairs Delia" he whispered

I was clueless as to what could be so secret he didn't even want me knowing.
Dad always tells me everything, I know all about his past being a deatheater and his relationship with the dark lord. The only thing he's kept from me is my mother. My father is an honest, wise man he tells me all that I need to know and nothing else. He'd never sugar coat anything and he'd tell me the truth and nothing but the truth. He's the one person I trust to be completely honest with me even if it will hurt me .

Whatever it was I knew he'd most definitely tell me after so I did what he said and took myself up to my room.

10 minutes went by and my curiosity had got the better of me.
I made my way across the landing and sat on the top step, trying to listen to the conversation taking place downstairs.

"He's just a boy" an older female voice spoke

A cackle broke from an immoral voice "make the unbreakable  vow"

After those last words my mind fell blank and a buzzing in my ears grew louder and louder.
"A boy? Who?"
"Unbreakable vow?"
"With who, my dad?"
"What could he possibly be promising?"

The thousand questions flooding my brain quickly shrunk to none as the front door slammed shut. I flew down the stairs as fast as I could.

"What was that about?" I said walking up to my dad.He was standing at the window with a cup of scotch in his hand.I put my hand on his shoulder in attempt to comfort him.

"Go up stairs Delia." His tone firm.

"Dad, will you at least turn and face me?"

"I said upstairs Delila" His voice growing louder.

"Dad I just-"

Before I could finish my sentence he spun around and stared at me dead. His eyes cold and empty, like all the happiness had been sucked out of the world.

"Upstairs" this time his voice quiet yet still threatening.

I didn't dare say another word. I made my way back up to my bedroom and closed the door quietly.

PRESENT
He was never the same after that and it's been just over a month. My dad is known to be a bit of a dick in school and to anyone really other than me. At home he's a different person, he's my dad. He cooks, cleans and cares for me. He's read to me for an long as I can remember and every night he stands in my doorway watching me sleep for a few seconds before he heads to bed.

All that has stopped

All that has stopped. All but when he comes to my doorway. He's hardly home anymore, I cook him dinner but he never eats it. He's not the same.
