She looked at the ceiling thoughtfully."I think I know what he is. Were his eyes red?"
"For a moment, they appeared so. What do you think he was priestess?"
"Where do you think Giselle is?""Probably lost. I wanted to keep searching, but I only just got away from the demon."
"Yes, I understand. We will look for her tomorrow. It's not safe out tonight. For now, get some sleep."
"But if it's not safe we need to fi-"
"Goodnight." I slowly nodded at this, and headed up to bed.
I felt frustrated at her for not answering my question and telling me to leave, but I hide my anger away.A few days later, we still had not found Giselle and the high priestess summoned me to her sanctuary. She handed me one of her old books and I read a few of the descriptions of the demon depicted. I skimmed through the page.
"This seems right." I told her. "But is this a reliable book?"
"Yes, of course."
She turned it to the previous page.
"Vampry. Vampire?"The priestess nodded and put the book back on the desk. She sat down on the chair and ran a hand through her long chestnut hair.
"We must warn the town council." She disclosed. I could see through her shroud of calm and the underlying fear beneath it.
I nodded, "We need to find Giselle. She is somewhere in the forest with a vampire and she could be killed." Naomi's face acquired a look of pain and she stood up. She handed me my black cloak and put on her own white one. We went out to the town hall to talk to the council.
The council building is inferior to our convent. Our home is white and looks like a church, with a steeple, and a sun on the front above the door and on all the stain glass windows. The council building is short and long. It is wooden and has a similar build to many of the houses in the village.
The priestess ordered me to wait outside while she told them about the vampire, and I was to come in once she called me.I leaned up against the wall of the town hall and gazed at the cloudy sky. It was grey and looked ready to cry.
I loved this kind of weather.
I heard thunder clap, and could smell the lovely scent of rain.
A hand covered my mouth. Terror surged through me and I tried to bite the hand to get away. I tripped on a step and he didn't stop moving. I was dragged across the ground and into the nearby forest. I tried to get away, but my struggle was futile.
I knew it was the vampire, and now that I knew what he was, I was much more afraid of angering him.
There are worse things than death.
He dragged me deep into the forest and shoved me up against a tree.
"Why did you tell them about me?" He growled.
"What did you expect? I'm not going to let you go kill people."
"I only take what I need. Now there will be hunts and wards." He seemed very angered.
"Good. You're a foul demon." I was being foolish, but I was starting to loose fear.
"Oh? You think I chose this? It's a curse."
"Let me go."
"I'm not going to make that mistake again." He snapped.
Fear hit me and I started to plan out my best route to escape.
A look of sly resolve consumed his handsome face.
"You will learn what it's like to live like this. You will suffer for eternity as I will."
I desperately tried to get away, but his firm grip held me in place.
"Please. Please don't do this."
"Don't worry too much, I was turned by Dracula himself. You'll be a very powerful vampire, as I am." He reassured, came in front of me, and held my arms above my head against the tree. I couldn't move and felt paralyzed by fear.
I gained a small moment of courage and said. "Just kill me." And then spat in his face.
"I will."
Gavriel put his head close to my neck and I whimpered in fearful anticipation.
All my resolve vanished. I would rather have died.
He put his mouth to my neck and kissed it.
I lifted my leg and kneed him in the stomach. He hardly reacted except for raising his head.
"That wasn't very nice." He reprimanded.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I mocked. "And you are?"
"Of course. I'm letting you enjoy this." He drawled.
"You are a sick creature." I muttered.
"I do try."
