LEFT TOWN

"CONGRATULATIONS McCall, you just lied your ass off."

Standing beside the Alpha, Nathan couldn't help but commented on what Scott had just did. Though he knew that the boy meant well, it was just unsettling to see him lie about something so big.

Scott had answered Derek's question by lying. Though the told the truth about the fire, he lied about Derek's family survival and said that they all had moved away. Yes, they did move away. Not to a different city, to a different fucking realm.

"He's right," Scott sighed exasperatedly, glancing at his best friend before his eyes drifted to Derek who was talking to Parrish. "I shouldn't have done that. I lied my ass off."

"Hey, your ass is fine. You saved him a ton of unnecessary pain," Stiles told him, flailing his arms around in the air in his typical manner. "We'll figure this out in a day or two, he goes back to being old Derek, everyone's happy. Except for Derek, who's never happy."

Even though Nathan wasn't the biggest fan in lying to the Hale, he agreed with Stiles. Derek shouldn't have to go through that pain again, not when they could still figure out how to get him back.

"It's just another person that we're lying to," Scott pointed out, letting out the millionth sigh of the day. "I always feel like it's always been better when we tell the truth. With Lydia, my mom, your dad."

"Yeah, but that is Derek Hale in there," the Stilinski boy muttered, pointing at the teenage version of Derek. "He may be a kid right now, but he's still Derek Hale."

"All right. Take him to my house, and don't let him out of your sight."

Nathan furrowed his brows, "And where are you going?"

"I'm going to talk to the guy we should have gone to before," Scott said ominously, though Nathan understood it fairly quickly.

The hunter shook his head, "Not alone you're not."

The pair were already half out of the door by the time Stiles exclaimed, "Uh ... yeah, I hate that guy."

In return, Nathan replied loudly, "Everyone hates that guy."

The two of them made their way back to Derek's compound in their own vehicles, which Nathan was thankful for upon seeing. It seemed like Noah had told the deputy that arrested him—Deputy Haigh—to drive Nathan's car back to the station.

Pulling up in front of the compound, the first thing Nathan noticed was the presence of a familiar girl—Malia Tate. Or Hale for that matter, because supposedly, her father was Peter—the very person they were about to talk to.
