"I- I don't understand. The cracks were right here!" Mari exclaimed in confusion. She was looking around with her eyebrows furrowed. We were all waiting at the railing, worried that Maribel was right.

"Abuela, I-" Mirabel started to say before Abuela cut her off. She shushed her. My mouth opened slightly. The nerve of Abuela to shush her own granddaughter!

"There is nothing wrong with la casa de Madrigal! The magic is still strong. And so are the drinks..." Abuela earned a couple laughs with that comment. I just rolled my eyes at the gesture.

"Music!" Abuela ordered as Luisa brought a piano to Mirabel's father, Agustin. The music continued as everyone filed out. Except for Mirabel. I walked up to her and put my hand on her shoulder.

"You okay?" I asked her. She looked at me and nodded.

"Let's go back to the party." I smiled at Mari as I took her hand. We went back to the party.

"Let's get a picture of all the Madrigals!" Abuela smiled as everyone, except for Maribel, went to get their picture taken.

"You should be in there. Go!" I remarked. Mari shook her head and smiled weakly.

"I'm not special like they are. It's alright. I'll stand off to the side as they shine." Mirabel said as she started to walk away.

"I'm fine. I'm fine." Mari assured me as she disappeared into the crowd. I sighed and tried to go on my tiptoes to see over everyone in the crowd. If only I had Camilo's ability. Then I could just turn into a tall guy and-

"Shortie." Camilo snuck up and scared me. I yelped and looked over at him. He was leaning against a table with his arms crossed.

"Can you shut up!? Jeez. I'm trying to find Mirabel." I mumbled and walked off. Camilo followed me. Can he leave me alone!? It's like he's obsessed with me. I laughed at the thought.

"You're just gonna leave the party like a loser then, huh?" Camilo said as he jumped in front of me. I shoved him to the side and continued walking.

"Mio dio. Lasciami solo!" I exclaimed.

"You need to stop speaking in Italian. You realize I'm Hispanic, right?" Camilo sneered. I scoffed. I kept my eyes out for Mirabel.

"Why are you even still here?" I asked him in an exhausted tone as I went to the nursery where Mirabel's room was.

"I enjoy your company." He lied.

"Yeah right. You enjoy annoying the absolute crap out of me." I corrected Camilo. He shape shifted into me.

"Yeah right. You enjoy-" Camilo began to say in my form, trying to mimic my voice. I groaned in annoyance and cut him off.

"Leave me alone before I get Isabela to tie you up in vines!" I shouted. He put his hands up in defense.

"Alright! Alright! I'll leave you alone. Don't get killed." Camilo said as he walked away. I snorted. 'Don't die.' What does he expect me to do, go fight Bruno!? Strano...

"Mirabel! Mirabel!" I yelled down the hallways. I kept searching and searching, but there was no sight of her. Eventually, the Madrigal family came along with all the guests. The guests left and the Madrigals decided it was time to sleep.
