I’m freaking out. I’ve gone through every outfit in my closet twice. I’m trying to be calm, cool, collected, but it’s just not working. Is this what it feels like to be a girl. If so I definitely am glad that I am not one. Although if I was then I wouldn’t be gay, unless for some strange reason I decided to be lesbian ( I’m getting off topic). Anyway, I just don’t know what to wear. He said to dress casual, but what if I wear something terrible. Maybe I should rethink the sweats and t-shirt. In an effort to at least make it seem like I tried, I change into jeans. It’s still pretty chilly so I pull on a sweater. Finally, my shoes and I’m ready to go.

I make my way to his dorm. he told me to meet him there at seven and it’s now, seven twenty ( I’m fashionably late, literally). I hope he didn’t make reservations somewhere. Well if he had he probably would have told me to dress classy. Ok I just need to calm down. I walk up to his door and knock. A minute later, Adam opens the door. He’s dressed simply, a hoodie, jeans, and Converse. He smiles and pulls me in for a kiss.

“ Happy Valentine’s Day.” He whispers. I smile and peck his lips again.

“ Happy Valentine’s Day to you too.” He pulls me inside and tells me to sit. I do as told and wait as he rummages around the room. He finally finds what he was looking for and comes over to me He hands me a small bag. I take it and peek inside. The grin that takes over my face hurts. Inside the bag is a small scrapbook. I open the first page and it says ‘ To my one and only, Love you loads.’ I look through it and find photos of us together and in groups. They’re memories we have come to make in the last few months. I finally look up to him and see he smiles shyly. I get up and go to him.

“ This is really the best Adam, thank you.” I give him a kiss and take out the small box that was in my sweater pocket. “Here.” I hand him the box. He takes it and studies it momentarily. He finally opens it and his eyes go wide. Inside is a chain. It holds a ring. he looks up at me shocked. I’m quick to explain. “ It’s like a promise ring, I have one too.” I pull out the chain with the ring around my neck. He holds it out to me and I help him put it on. He turns around when it’s secure around his neck. He then kisses me. He keeps it simple and passionate. It’s filled with so much love I might melt. It’s now or never I decide ( I’d say never but I love him too much). “ I love you.” He beams and pulls me close.

“ I love you.” He whispers in my ear. We stay in the embrace for some time. It was kind of a big moment for both of us. We just admitted our feelings, even if we already knew that we were very much in love. He pulls away slightly. “ C’mon we’re not done for the night.” He moves from my grasp. He picks up a handkerchief, moving back toward me. “ Mind if I blindfold you? I want it to be a surprise.” I laugh and he takes that as a go ahead to blindfold me. God isn’t he the romantic. I laugh as we make our way to wherever he has plans.

---

About twenty minutes later, he says we’re here. He guides me forward a bit more, then takes off the blindfold. I gasp, the most beautiful scene set out before me. We’re in a kind of park. It must be off campus, because there is no one around. Fairy lights surround the big white screen set up in front. A picnic blanket is set up before the screen. There’s pillows and blankets on top of that. I finally look over to Adam, his gaze eyeing his masterpiece nervously. I give a slight chuckle and move in to hug him.

“ It’s gorgeous, I love it.” I say. He chuckles too and we go to the blanket. We sit and get comfortable ( by comfortable I mean snuggling up into Adam’s loving embrace). He grabs a remote and hits play. The opening titles of the Simpson Movie light up the screen. I laugh (it’s one of my favorite movies) and he hold me tighter. We spend the first half just watching, enjoying the company between us. Soon enough, we’re giving each other light pecks and telling each other how much we love the other.

“ You have the most beautiful eyes.” Adam comments

“ You have a perfect smile.” I add

“ You have the best laugh.”

“ You always smell so good.” I inhale his intoxicating smell.

“ You laugh at my stupid selfies, and then join in”

“ You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

“ No I think YOU are the best thing that’s happened to me.” He gives my forehead a kiss.

“ Can I ask you something?” I ask

“ What?”

“ Why me? Like you can have anybody but you chose me.” He doesn’t even hesitate to answer.

“ Well that’s easy. You are one special human being Oliver. The moment I meet you  knew we would be together. You make me feel giddy and lovestruck. I will never get over the feeling you give me just by being here with me.” I’m close to tears ( happy tears of course).

“ Thanks Adam, I feel the same way about you. I could never imagine my life without you. Let’s be together infinitely.” We both laugh at our cheesiness. That night was definitely one to remember ( that blanket might hold some precious memories for time to come). I definitely felt the love that night.
