I should've stayed at work

You were doing it again. Adjusting the simple silver ring on your thumb over and over again until you accidentally dropped it from fidgeting with it so much. This was habitat you developed over the past years, whenever you were nervous you would fiddle with the ring on your left thumb. Though it was just a regular thick band ring, it held a special meaning to you...hence why you fiddle with it so much. As you look back up from picking up your ring, you see the line just getting longer and longer. Being a cashier was an easy job for you but today was not it.

"Next customer please come up" you called out to what you felt like were hundreds of people

The customer was placing their items on the counter in a very slow manner, this only got you more anxious. You glanced down at your watch, there were approximately thirty minutes to tell your manager you had to leave due to an emergency. That emergency was named Sasha. Even though you could have told your manager earlier, you saw there was no more time to waste so once you finished ringing up your current customer you were going to leave. The customer grabbed their bags and as soon as they did you quickly crouched behind the counter and crawled your way out and then bolted to the office. Thankfully no one noticed but you heard worried tones from the customers asking each other where the cashier that was just in front of their eyes was.

Finally, you made it to the back and you saw your manager sitting down managing inventory on the computer. You gently walk up to her and ask, "Petra, sorry to bother you but I just threw up in the bathroom and I was wondering if I could go home so I don't throw up on customers". You give her a wary smile, there is no way she would believe-

Petra immediately stood up and started pushing you towards the exit of the store.

"OMG of course! Y/n your health is important you should have told me sooner! I'll go clean up the bathroom-..."

"NO...I mean no need I already cleaned it since I felt bad" you respond quickly as you place your hand over your stomach and let out an "Ow my stomach hurts"

"You poor thing y/n, I feel terrible " Petra says with a sad expression.

"No don't! It's okay you were busy but I think I should probably go now" you say as you reach for the front door.

Petra rushes to it first to open the door for you, "Please get home safely and rest as much as possible. Let me know if you are feeling well enough to come in tomorrow, if not I'll just call in Hitch to cover for you." she gives you a weak smile as you start to head outside.

"I think I will be fine to come back tomorrow, thank you Petra. You're the best!" you wave to her and once Petra is out of your view, you run to your car as fast as you can.

As you run you mutter to yourself, "I'm so sorry Petra this is the first and last time I'll ever lie to you.". You get in your car and see a notification pop up from your phone. Picking up your phone you see it's from Sasha and it said

"Y/N WHERE ARE YOU!?!? 20 MINUTES LEFT! HURRY OR ELSE!"

If only she wasn't your best friend, she would be your enemy by now

Earlier this morning

"Y/n, don't forget you promised to pick me up later today" your roommate Sasha stated as she stuffed a croissant into her mouth. Hearing these words come out of her mouth made you freeze and you started to wonder when you had promised this girl anything.

"What?", was all that could come out of your mouth.

"Remember last night...? The favor I asked?" she said impatiently

Sasha usually asks you to drive her places which you don't mind especially since she failed her driving test twenty times but she usually asks ahead of time and respects your work hours...except for today. You wondered if there was some sort of special occasion from the desperate look on her face.
