Mellifluous, that's what his voice sounded like.
It was sweet and gentle, and you could listen to it forever.

The glorious weekend had come and I was finally free.

I force myself into the misty morning outside into the cold damp air, the tarmac laid underneath me felt nice, I was constantly warm so this cooled me.
The steaming cup of tea I held in my hand was nearly finished by the time mum had woken up.

"Morning sweetie." She stands on the deck behind me almost as if she was watching over me. I still was a child in her eyes.
"Morning mum."
Her long blonde hair had darkened and was placed in a bun resting on the top of her head. She turned and left to enter the kitchen.

What nobody knew about mum was that she had.. Landed on some money, it supported us.. More than it should. We were quite rich in that sense.
The house we lived in was too big for two people and it was usually just me who would be sleeping there. I cocked my head to see her through the windows which had the light reflecting off of it. She was signalling for me to come in.

I opened the sliding doors to the sound of the Beatles playing on the radio and the smell of pancakes. I was confused.

"What are you doing?" I ask walking carefully over to her, she was like an alien to me in this moment,

"Val, ive met someone." She has this grin on her face which I didn't understand

"What?" My words are short and the expression on my face is concerned.

"His name is Michael, he's going to be... Staying for a while here." She said.

"How long have you known 'Michael' for then?" I'm fed up with the amount of men that come and go from her life.

"He works in my department and we've been friends for a few years now." I can tell she's gotten frustrated with the amount of questions I'm asking her so I stop. I open the bottom cupboard and bring out a box of cereal, it was heavy enough so I could eat how much I wanted. I lugged over the carton of milk and countinued making my specialty.

Rolling my eyes I leave the kitchen with a bowl of cereal in hand.

"You need to move out."

I stop dead, wait what, did she say what I think she just said.

"You need to go to college and I don't know you can stay here while doing that."

I turn around and walk/sprint back to the kitchen counter where she's bent over picking at the grapes laid out.

"Your kicking me out??" The tone in my voice is angry, but who wouldn't be.

"No, I'm just saying you need an education and you obviously can't get one here so I will pay for you to get your own apartment for a little while but after that your on your own. Its time to grow up Val."

Its sad that I understand what she's saying. In a flushed state I walk upstairs to my bedroom and close the door. I do t slam it like I usually would.

"So your leaving?" Charlie asks.
I didn't even see her.

"Guess you heard huh,"

She walks over to me and places a boney hand on my shoulder and smiles at me. Her hair was in perfect ringlets and her freckles give her an innocent look.

"What if nobody likes you?" She asks.
What if they don't, what if they think I'm weird like Charlie says I am. They're going to hate me, I would hate me.

"Don't worry, i"'ll be there with you."

"I'll never leave you."

"Ever.
