The day past and finally it was night. The Hastings family was sitting around Spencer's bed as she slept. It seemed that she had gotten quite exhausted from her emotional display earlier in the day. Veronica was holding Spencer's hand as her daughter seemed to have a death grip; physically showing how she definitely didn't want to be alone. Melissa sat on Spencer's other side; rubbing a soothing motion on the back of her sisters hand. Peter stood at the foot of the bed with his arms crossed, trying to come to terms with the information that he had just learned.

He still couldn't believe all of the trauma inflicted on his little girl. He was supposed to protect Spencer but at every turn it would seem he was too late. Peter would watch as his daughter went through horrific events, each one worst than the last. He thought it couldn't get any worse than Spencer being kidnapped and psychologically tortured by her own twin sister (and wasn't that shocking to find out) but it would appear that he was once again wrong.

Given the extensive damage that had been inflicted, Peter was barely holding in the rage that was consuming him at the thought of what kind of monsters would dare hurt his little girl. As those thoughts started to fill his mind, he realized that he had no idea what really happened to Spencer or how she was able to deal with all of it. At that train of thought, Peter wondered what kind of drugs Spencer was given to treat infections, which in turn, lead to him thinking about Spencer's past drug addiction. As soon as that thought entered his head, he looked over at his ex-wife and realized she had just come to that conclusion as well. Peter moved to the door so that he could talk to the doctors about said startling revelation as worry was passed between both parents.

Veronica sat by Spencer's side as she tried to come to terms with everything that had happened to her youngest daughter. She held onto Spencer's hand and tried to soothe her as she realized how much destress her daughter was in. While to the naked eye, Spencer seemed to be sleeping peacefully, her mother knew different. Veronica watched her daughter closely as she took in the slightly pinched eyebrows and the clinched jaws and realized how difficult this was going to be.

All everyone had hoped for was finding Spencer alive and in one piece; they never thought about what would happen after and with the uncertainty surrounding the possibility of Spencer's relapse with drugs hanging in the air, Veronica wasn't sure how to approach this. While it was implied that there might have been torture involved during previous kidnappings by various A's over the years, never has it been bluntly stated that Spencer was actually tortured, extensively and for a long period of time.

Veronica knew that this was going to be difficult and from what they had learned from the doctors, Spencer was extremely traumatized from what she experienced. She knew they would have to take this slow and be rather considerate of Spencer and her trauma. However, Veronica also knew they couldn't walk on eggshells around her because she knew that even as traumatized as Spencer was, she wouldn't want to be treated like a child.

Nevertheless, while the future is an unknown factor, Veronica knew one thing for certain: she was filled with immense relief and joy knowing that her little girl had survived and was laying right next to her. She felt something settle within her once she was able to finally hold Spencer in her arms and she was eternally grateful to whatever God that was out there that her baby had made it home alive.
