Upon her arrival at Union Station in Chicago, Kyra felt the buzz of her phone in her jacket pocket. The sender was unknown, as she saw at first glance when she looked it up. Just a number, as it usually was most of the time. No number that had saved and thus, this message should amount to a job. A possible job well noted. In the end, it was still up to her whether she took a job or not and not how much money someone offered or the possible client.

Just in time, Kyra thought, because, a few minutes later, she would have been on the train to San Diego long ago and wouldn't have bothered with the notice.

With phone in hand, Kyra walked over to the benches in the large main hall, sat down on a completely empty bench, and placed her bag on the wood to her right so no one would sit directly by her. People weren't nosy at all these days, after all.

It wasn't an offer Kyra usually received, where she was offered X amount to kill person XY, nor did it say to shadow anyone or procure anything. Nothing of the sort. The message contained no text, just an attachment. A newspaper report that was about the death of a Colonel Schoonover. Found in a cabin in the woods and killed, by a single shot to the head. An execution, because the man possessed several heavy injuries, besides the Colonel had sat on the floor of the hut and thereby, with the back against a cabinet leaned.

Kyra had never had such a situation. Usually, it was a matter of a person ending up dead, not starting with a dead person.

A few minutes passed, during which the message ran through several programs and servers in the background, and Kyra was able to begin canceling her ticket and then booking a new one for New York City. She didn't know who the message came from, but she would find out on the way to the metropolis and what else there was to know. In one day, that's how long she would be on the road, she would have more than enough information. That much was certain.
