After they resumed playing, it seemed for a while that the Braves were actually doing decent. They finished half their games, with the full schedule at 70 games, and had a very impressive looking 27-8. They slid a bit in ranking, but were still 3rd in their conference and 7th in their league overall. Then, it seemed like their luck had run out. First, Michael was injured. Then, half the bench players (including Akira) and Carl got the influenza. Only Jake, King, Carter, and three bench players could play. They lost five games in a row, came back to win two, and then lost another seven in a row. 29-20. They were now at 6th in their conference and 14th in their league overall. Lex had analyzed that if they did not have Carter, their chances of winning a game against a random team dropped by 12.32%. Coach Auerbach was not happy about Lex's depressing analytics and kicked him out of the team. Lex later posted on Instapound about this.

Coach Auerbach was not happy about it,but at least he could finally freely give out lectures without Lex interrupting with his number talk. Either way, the team was in a bad state. They could only pray that Michael, Carl, Akira and the rest of the bench players would recover before the playoffs. Michael had a broken arm and the doctor had told him it would take at least 2 and a half months to recover. Michael had insisted on continuing to practice using his one good arm but Coach Auerbach had stopped him from doing so.

"Kid, I would rather you be on the court in two months for the playoffs or something and not having to wait an extra two months because of something stupid you do during practice!"

Michael was stunned. He had never heard a coach say such kind words before, as Coach Auerbach was usually harsh, giving "constructive criticism". He decided to back down, and just watch previous games to study opponents. For now, Michael replaced Lex as the analyst for the team. He would keep giving feedback, and hyper analyzing their opponents to understand their strategies. He didn't have as much to say as Lex, though. Michael's feedback was short and concise Often, the team saw Michael with black rings around his eyes due to being sleep deprived. The team went up a bit from 29-20 to 32-21. People were jokingly calling Michael "assistant coach!". The environment of the team was also brightened up a bit, as the team started to see that the injuries may not have been completely bad.
