"we can just fully live our present,
aspiring for a better future"

King's Cross station

Y/n Ashdown stared worried at her aunt who was helping her taking her bags on the train.
She's just moved from Bergen, Norway, to London, right before the beginning of summer break, not willingly but just because her aunt was her only legal guardian, if not the only relative she had left.

Her aunt was a skinny woman with blonde fuzzy hair, which fell on her face at her every single move and
bright emerald eyes, tired from the lack of sleep and surrounded by deep dark circles. Her nose was sharp and her lips thin and pale.

"You don't have to help me, I can do it myself." Said Y/n, taking a little bag from her aunt's hands.
"Oh, go on, get on the train, here, take Helgi... Be careful, it's still a puppy." And a black cat jumped easily on the girl's shoulder, hiding behind a strand of her hair.

"Y/n, my dear, you are growing up too fast! In few hours you'll finally be part of the most famous school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world!"
"Yeah, right.."
"What's the matter, my child? You're not happy to go back to school?" Asked Y/n's aunt, concerned.

The young girl looked apologetically at her guardian.
"I would have preferred staying home with my friends, and finishing school there and.." Looking at her feet for a moment or two, trying to regain her composure, she then kissed her aunt's cheek with a not so believable smile.

She then laughed bitterly:
"After all, it could have been worse. At least I've had you by my side, I could've ended up with a weird relative.."
"I know that it's not easy honey, and I know what you're really thinking about, but we can't change what's in the past. We can just fully live our present, aspiring for a better future. You'll make new friends and meet new people, and everything is going to be just fine. I sure hope."

Y/n diverted her sight from her aunt's eyes, knowing that if she looked at her, she would surely burst into tears.
Instead she kept on admiring the other kids, who were hurrying on the train trying to find a seat among their friends, when a group of guys, probably of her age, caught her eye.

They were laughing so hard that it really was impossible to not hear them. Y/n was looking them up and down when she noticed a certain brunette boy who was already staring at her with a scowl. Locking eyes, both of them quickly turned their attention somewhere else,
Y/n started paying attention to her aunt once again.

The conductor's whistle woke her up from her trance and, after saying goodbye to her aunt, Y/n got finally on the train, bags in hand, and started searching for an empty compartment. Once she had found one with nobody in it, she set her luggage in front of her and let her tired body fall on a comfortable seat.
