I sat uncomfortably on my -supposedly- "throne". I shouldn't have told my parents that I wanted a debut. I mean I WANTED one but after graduation, all I wanted was some sleep.

Highschool was a bittersweet part of my life.

And I know that when I enter college, remove the sweet part.

Maybe.

So right now, I am on my seat, recieving gifts from relatives and friends and listening to sugar-coated messages. I'll never know who will be the next person who would be called up.

After seventeen "treasures" , the host, Greg, said the final name.
"And last but not the least..." He started, looking at his list. "Mrs. Jade Sanchez!"

Mom?

I saw my mother in her beautiful turquoise gown and her chestnut brown hair in flowy curls. My mouth curled up into a smile and I thought my eyes started to water. I mean she said she couldn't attend with all the work she had in London. She walk up to me with the microphone in her hand and an envelope in another.

"My sweet Liza.." She started, "Eighteen years ago today, you came into this world as a beautiful baby. Through the years, you have coped up with my relocations and I thank you for that." My mother said in one of her nice tones. Yeah, she has different voice tones for each of her moods. "You also told me three years ago, you wanted to see America.." She stepped closer to me.

Oh my God.

"Happy birthday my love." She handed me the envelope and hugged me tightly. As soon as she loosened her grip, I looked at her; she was as blooming as a baby rose in the spring. I opened the envelope and I'm pretty sure tears rolled down my cheek, messing my makeup up.

I'm going to the United States of America.
