The sun had come up before the meeting. It was still dark when I got here. I'm standing in the main hall with the sun shining on my face. I was told by a guard, when I was little, that my freckles line up to make constellations that many people are familiar with. Knowing there is a map of the night sky in the ballroom I start to make my way.
I walk in disappointed with the sight, the constellations are covered in streamers and balloons. I look to my right, Isadora. Her crown has beautiful sapphires on it. The metal is of silver and the crown is molded into a plant of forget-me-knots. Being as beautiful as she is as well as being Anthony's to-be, she's respected throughout the kingdom. Her crown symbolizes such.
I look down, noticing all the wrinkles I fix my formal attire. It was a white dress, meant to look like a robe. It really wasn't. From what I see in the newspapers, people don't walk around in that attire. It's all shirts and shorts as a matter of fact. People walking around with robes on isn't a normal sight here. We are more modern in this area compared to others. Women wearing pants has become a newer trend I read in the paper. In a couple days, however, there will be beautiful gowns and dresses, robes and suites. I really hope Isadora puts in a dress code, otherwise the party is going to be a variety of fashion clashes.
I notice Isadora points to the ceiling. Maybe she's talking about how cluttered it looks. I slip off my sandals and walk onto the ballroom floor. Instead of marble, it's polished wood. The chandelier is a giant explosion of glass and metal.
Ivy had made sure to check every curve in the piece of art. No dust, no nothing. Isadora is incredibly skilled when it comes to event planning I've learned. I've also learned that we have an assistant event planner. There's a lot to learn when it comes to new events.
Ivy catches me in the midst of staring, I was trying to study her actions. A small wave and a petite smile was handed my way. Thank gods, she seems lovely. I return a smile as well as a wave. If everyone coming in a couple days is like this, I'm set.
I set my arms in a way I've seen Isadora and Anthony dance. I take it step by step as I remember. We used to have small parties. The council, Anthony and Isadora, the residents of the servant quarters, it was just us. I feel as if I've lived in a bubble all my life and I finally get to see the rest of the Kingdom. It's not as if I'm physically restrained to not see them, I just have no time. Sleep is a gift.
What Basil said after the meeting lingers on my mind as I spin and twirl to music in my head. What if I say something that upsets somebody? I'll just have to think like Basil this time. No Tenley this week.
I stop dancing and look up. They cleared the streamers off the ceiling. I can see the constellations. Theyre back to their rightful beauty. I really cant wait for more people. I just hope I dont disappoint them.
