I woke up way too early. Ok I woke up at 7am but still, its too early. Getting up is hard, especially to go to a job you hate. I work as a mechanic in the rich part of LA. The owner, Bob, is a family friend so he gave me the job after my mom passed away.

We weren't close or anything, she died of cancer when I was 19. All I inherited was 60k in debt. My brother got the other 60k of debt but he was 22 at the time and was working for my dads company so he paid it off in no time. I, on the other hand have been trying to pay it off for the past 3 years. I made the choice to get a job instead of going to college. Maybe if I went to college things would be different now, or maybe I would just be more in debt. Either way working in a high class mechanic workshop with no degree is pretty impressive. Of course I'm not allowed to do anything but manage the front desk and scheduling.

I got dressed and was about to leave when I noticed a fancy letter that had been slipped under my door. I opened it and just as I was expecting it read,

"My dear Mallory, please join me and your brother to one of my company parties tomorrow evening. A dress will be sent over tonight as usual -Dad

I rolled my eyes and left to go off to work dreading tomorrow. Every few months my dad has some fancy dance to impress his clients and potential clients. The only reason he wants me there is to try to set me up with a client. They always bore me with their talk of money and travels. Ive tried to get out of them by saying I couldn't afford a dress or my work schedule was too busy. So now my dad clears me from working by talking to Bob and sends me a dress.

Here we go again I thought as I walked out of my building.
