Loved
It was the first day of 5th grade, what feels like a lifetime ago.
In all reality it was only 3 years ago.
I and my new found friends were eating lunch together in my small elementary school lunch room
but when I was younger it felt like a whole world inside of itself.
A small group of boys sat next to my friends and I,
as my friend and I talked about what homework we had due
made jokes
and talked about our long gone summer break.
A boy with blonde hair
blue eyes
and an infectious laugh
that even made me crack a smile—caught my gaze.
My friends, noticing I had left the conversation being held moments before asked me
what was happening,
was I staring?
Oh,I was.
That day I said hi to that blonde boy with blue eyes.
Sometimes I sit and wonder what my life would have looked like if I hadn't said hi,
or asked his name,
or even never looked his way.
Would we have met another way?
Did the universe intend for us to meet or did some greater power want us to meet?
Regardless of what would've happened if we didn't meet,
I'm glad we did,
because I believe that we are soulmates,
platonic or romantic.
My proof of this is no matter what we go through we always find our ways
to each other's arms.
He is my home.
My comfort.
We've loved each other since 2019.
