2. Uneventful Meetings

She opened the classroom's door quite rapidly, and unfortunately for her, not only was the rest of the class there, but Professor Slughorn had already started teaching.

He turned around, all eyes on our beloved (Y/N), with her loose tie around her neck, her black vest not all the way tucked in. She looked undeniably beautiful, in her own way. She took a glimpse at Professor Slughorn, and quickly went to her seat, next to Remus Lupin, a charming young fellow, and a Prefect.

"My apologies, Professor. I didn't hear the alarm this morning-" she apologized briefly, still not facing her professor.

"Oh Merlin's beard, Ms. (L/N), you do realise that you've said this little lie every day since year one?" Slughorn took a quick breath before continuing. "I've told you many times that it is alright, but do get up earlier next time."

(Y/N) waved a bit at Remus and he waved back, handing her the notes from the mere minutes she had lost from class earlier.

"Now," said Slughorn, "today we shall look into two potions together; one of them is veritaserum, which is as you know, a truth serum and the other is amortentia. Does anyone know what amortentia is?" No one raised their hand, "Maybe, Ms. (L/N) can tell us what it is."

She looked up at him, and back at the cauldron with the amortentia. "Uhm, I believe it is a love potion. Nobody knows its real smell, because it smells differently to each person according to what attracts them."

"Splendid!" Slughorn chimed, "Amortentia is the most powerful love potion in the world. And you're going to try to recreate it! Chop chop!"

Every student got into work. Cutting, crushing, putting in, changing the colour of the liquid or even the texture.

At the end, surprisingly only the shy Severus Snape got it right, as always. He was just the best in potions. Everyone applaud.

She caught a glimpse of James Potter looking and sniffing in his cauldron, then looking at Lily Evans who was currently sitting next to Severus. James smiled awkwardly in a daydreaming like state. Something about that made her furious, a heated hatred started bumbling in her but she kept it calm; first time she ever tried to stay calm, she was usually a very short tempered person who always stood up for herself but now, she couldn't blow up her cover.

So she just stood still, looking down at her cauldron, whisking away the dark liquid, smelling hints of the Potter boy.

At lunchtime, (Y/N) was sitting with her friends, mostly Andromeda and Molly as Pandora was busy experimenting with fellow Ravenclaws, quite an unusual hobby but they let it pass. The girls talk to each other, gossiping about everyone and everything in the kindest way possible, and eating their hearts out as the Hogwarts food was always superior to any other kitchen.

(Y/N) wasn't talking as much, mostly eating or just listening to the girls talk about their so significant others.

Molly had been dating Arthur Weasley, a fellow Gryffindor and also a pureblood like her, for almost a year now. The duo was inseparable, and you could clearly see I love those two people had for each other. The love that people sing in songs, write in poems or tell stories about. And both families approved of each other.

On the other hand, Andromeda was secretly dating a muggle wizard named Ted Tonks, a Hufflepuff, although one of the smartest and kindest people you'll ever meet. Her family strongly disapproved of him, and almost obeyed Andromeda to not even approach him, something she clearly didn't do.

Because young love is wonderful, even if some didn't believe it.

"He got me flowers for our anniversary." Molly chimed.

"That's a bit standard don't you think?" Andromeda questioned, "I mean, for someone you have been dating for over a year, surely you'd believe he'd give you something more grand, for example? Everyone gets flowers for literally everyone!"

"Oh shush you! I believe that flowers are the most romantic and timeless gesture, despite your harsh criticism!" Molly smiled.

"I just believe that—" Andromeda glanced at (Y/N) and continued talking "(Y/N/N), are you even listening?"

(Y/N)'s head shot up, "Yeah, yeah."

"What's on your mind?" Andromeda said

"You know you can always tell us everything." Molly placed her palm above (Y/N)'s hand, smiling warmly.

"Yes, I know. I just zoned out a bit."

"Are you sure?" Andromeda questioned again

"Am I not allowed to zone out now?" She asked sarcastically.

"I don't know, maybe it had to do with James Potter—" said Molly.

"Oh of course not!" (Y/N)'s eyes went big, gesturing to not continue the subject.

"C'mon, we know how you look at him. Why don't you talk to him?" Andromeda pressured.

"First of all, I'm not attracted to him. Secondly, he already has eyes for someone else, I've seen the way she looks at Lily Evans." The girls frowned, "I just have no chance with him and that's totally fine."

"It does bother you a bit, doesn't it?" Asked Molly in her typical "mom friend" way.

"I mean, it kind of does, but it's not like I can do anything about it really." A small grin tugged on the side of her mouth.

Lunchtime continued with a bit more awkwardness than before. (Y/N) wasn't talking as much so she mostly ate, just like before.

On the way to the Gryffindor common room, surprisingly James stopped her on her tracks.

"Sorry to interrupt, it's (Y/N) isn't it?" James smiled, looking down at her.

She smiled, "Yeah, hello."

"Hey! So, you applied for this year's Quidditch tryouts, is that right?" James asked.

"Yeah, for the chaser position to be exact."

"Excellent, well, I'm going to need you as well as the others in the Quidditch court, Friday 5pm." Said James.

"Alright, I'll be there. Thank you." She smiled, and that was all that she could manage to do at the moment. It was a bit embarrassing for her actually.

He smiled with his one million gallion smile. "I'll see you around, (Y/N)!" And with that, he walked away.

Leaving our protagonist with all mixed up thoughts. She thought she could get over him, if she just didn't think about him, but turns out, even seeing his smile would make her dream about him for days and nights.
