Peter was sent to a village far away from the kingdom to collect taxes. David wanted to keep Peter away. He feared that Peter would take the throne away from him.

On the first day, Peter was quite nervous. He was used to doing paperwork in his office. He knocked on the door. "Are you Mrs. Euphemia? We're here to collect taxes. The total tax of this month is 20 shillings ma'am." said Peter. "20 shillings? I have 5 children at home!" the woman yelled in panic. "I am sorry but you have to pay taxes or you shall be arrested," said Peter. The miserable woman handed 20 shillings. After collecting taxes from some houses, Peter realized the country was too poor to pay taxes. People are barely earning enough for food. Peter felt sorrow for them. Peter took a deep breath. He had decided to do something that would change everything.

Peter gathered all the people in the village. "Ladies and gentlemen, I've gathered you all to make an important announcement. We all know how hard the year has been for us. The taxes are too high, aren't they?" "Yes! The taxes are too high," the crowd cheered. "We all should go to the king. The royals will have to allow two of our wishes. One is to lower taxes. Two is to manage the country's economy so we could earn enough to pay the taxes!" said Peter. "Yes! We will go to the palace! Long live the Kingdom. Long live the freedom!" the crowd cheered again. The crowd marched to the palace with Peter leading them.

The crowd marched into the kingdom. More people joined them because everyone wanted lower taxes and more economic opportunities. The crowd headed to the palace. "We want to speak to our King!" the crowd chanted. The royal guards weren't strong enough to stop a big crowd. The crowd stood in front of the palace.

King Henry was having lunch. He heard the noisy crowd outside the palace. He called his regent, David Pearson. "David, what is happening outside?" the king asked in confusion. "Your majesty, people outside want to talk to you," said David Pearson. "Bring their leader to me," the king ordered. David went to the crowd and found out that the leader was none other than Peter. David was frightened but he had to bring Peter to the palace.

"What do you want to talk about, young man?" the king asked. "Your majesty, I appreciate the chance to speak here. I am Peter Jones." Peter explained everything. The king was furious because the regent David reported that the country's economy was fine. "Bring David Pearson to me!" David was brought to the king.

"I am very disappointed in you, David," the King said furiously. "I'm very sorry for what I've done. It's my clerk who is responsible for all of this! He accepted bribes to create a fraud in the country!" said David Pearson."Bring that man to me immediately!" the King ordered his guards. The guards brought a pale man. He was none other than Cedric Clinton. "He shall be executed in public tomorrow! I won't forgive a man who lied to our citizens!" the King yelled. The guards dragged poor Cedric to a prison cell. Peter stood in desperate silence. The man who created economic corruption and accepted bribes was a gentleman he admired. He left the palace in disappointment.
