'Ice Block calling'
These words greeted Shravan Malhotra when he picked up his wife's, Suman Tiwari's phone. He stared at the screen and blinked like it was hard to read what was written. He did not realize when Suman came to stand near him.
"Ah! Here it is. I knew I dropped it on the sofa" Suman's voice broke his revere, as he turned to glare at her.
"What?" Suman's eyes widened at his sudden change of mood. His face was dark as if she had plotted to stab him.
"Ice block? Really? Is this what you think about your "husband'?" His words were laced with mockery as he glared hard. Suman rolled her eyes in her mind; of course, it was never wise to rile up this Qutub Minar when he was already on edge.
"I think your face & words you just said suit the name perfectly. Also, are you not usually in that cold' mode?" Suman responded meekly. She knew it was petty, but she couldn't help with his behaviour, especially after their wedding. Shravan looked at her intensely. Then he pursed his lips and strode over to his study room without saying anything. His wife sighed and sat down on the sofa, her mind drifting away.
Suman Tiwari and Shravan Malhotra were childhood friends turned lovers and now married. A perfect fairy tale! However, the reality was far different.
Growing up together, Shravan and Suman separated when Shravan left for London to practice law after his parents, Nirmala and Ramnath, separated. He returned ten years later, and Suman discovered he had changed. She apologized to him for not being there with him, but he rejected her. After turns of events like Suman's house being in danger of being sold out, Shravan fighting the legal case and winning the same, the two somehow managed to rekindle their friendship. But then, Suman being a fool, tried to reunite Shravan with his mother and Shravan's possessive father, Ramnath Malhotra got upset with Suman and was able to bridge an emotional gap between them.
