Seth was making his way through the village marketplace checking his list.

"Okay got the chadon beni, the plums, the salt... what am I missing?" He asked himself, just then he heard a commotion. He turned in the direction of the noise to see a little boy around his age running pass him, a market vendor came running after him.

"You no good, little thief!" The vendor yelled "I'm tired of you, you always do this"

Seth turned to look in the direction of the boy but he was already gone.

At a lake in the forest the boy sat and pulled the stolen fruit out of a sack he was carrying. He took a huge bite out of it and sighed "Stolen food always tastes so good" he exclaimed

Just then a voice came travelling over his shoulder. "That doesn't make stealing right y'know"

The boy stood up on his two feet ready to fight "How'd you find me?" He yelled.

"Calm down" Seth Responded and threw the boy a piece of bread from his bag. The boy caught it looked at it and threw it back hitting Seth in the head with it.

"Do I look hungry to you?" The boy yelled

Depressed by the boy's reaction Seth responded "no.."

"Whats your name anyway? And how'd u find me?" The boy asked

"It's Seth. Whats yours?" Seth responded barely looking up.

"They call me Ra" The boy responded

"Okay then, Ra! If you're not hungry then why were you stealing in the first place?"

"Just to see how good I am" Ra responded as he munched on the fruit.

"That's dumb!" Seth responded as he looked back over at Ra "You're risking you're life to test your skills?"

"WHO YOU CALLING DUMB?!" Ra yelled.

"There he is!" A voice yelled as the boys looked up to see a mob of the villagers

"There's the little thief. And he's got a friend with him. GET THEM!" The vendor yelled as the mob rushed in.

The boys took a fighting stance and defended themselves.

Seth hopped over Ra's head striking one of the vendors and Ra had his back tripping another vendor that was trying to blindside Seth. Blow after blow they fought in unison as if they'd practiced it. Their teamwork was beautiful and looked as if they were performing a dance.

Eventually they would end up standing back to back.

"Not Bad at all for a little runt" Ra smiled "but I'm pretty sure you can't do this" and with that Ra started spitting fire from his mouth which encircled the two boys. Ra looked over his shoulder and smiled at Seth.

"Same time, same place tomorrow!" Ra exclaimed before he vanished.

Seth smiled.

After finally managing to get away Seth dragged himself home to where he was greeted by his little brother. Who was raking up the leaves in the yard.

"What happened to you?" His brother asked noticing Seth was all scuffed up.

"Nothing made a friend today!"

"And what he beat you up?"

"Something like that"

"Anyway dad was waiting for you to get home, I think he has some important stuff to share with you."

"Alright" Seth said as he proceeded in the house.

The house wasn't much, it was a shaken down two bedroom flat, situated to the edge of the village they lived in, both Seth and his brother shared a room and the father used the other room as his study and would usually fall asleep working or go to sleep on the couch.

Seth walked into the father's study

"You wanted to see me Pops?"

"Seth, my boy the stars, the stars have showed me your faith and they say, you'll meet someone new, someone different, I can't exactly put my finger on what it is but I'd like you to be careful with who you interact with"

"Come on Pa" Seth cut his father off "The astrology thing y'know I don't believe in that"

Seth responded even though he couldn't help but think about Ra

"I Know son, but you know we can't afford to lose you, the gem of our family."

"I know Pa! And I take it seriously , trust me when I'm out there I'm safe"

"You say that but you're not like your brother, you crave adventure your brother is a lot more studious and actually takes his role in this family seriously. Please don't let your mother's sacrifice be in vain."

With that Seth whispered "yeah" and turned to walk out, His father looked over at the side of his eye to watch him leave.
