Transitions

The door creaked opened as Ra's parents walked in behind him, he continued to stare out the window

"Son, are you okay?" Ra's mother spoke softly

"The storm is dying down, He's alive" Ra answered

"Where did this ungodly storm even come from?"

Ra turned to his parents "I've missed you, mom, dad" he kissed his mom on his cheek and gave her a soft smile.

"How long have you been back in the village?" His father asked "Why is it I have to hear from the village folk about my son's return?"

"I'm sorry dad, I just had a lot going on"

"So much that you couldn't even come to see your own parents and you lock yourself away in this watch tower?"

"...." Ra had no answer for his parents

Ra's mother held his hand "We're just happy that you're home son" she spoke in a gentle manner in an effort to break the discomfort in the room.

"I learnt a lot, while away father, I am almost certain I am both powerful and wise enough to protect this village."

"Almost?" His father asked

Ra looked over to his father.

"There's no pressure on you son, I've given you the best education and training possible, I now leave it up to you to choose your time."

Ra turned to look out of the window.

"There's just one more thing I have to do and I'll be ready."

"Say AHHH" Naomi giggled as she tried to get Seth to open his mouth to feed him his medicine.

Seth opened in his mouth as wide as possible swallowing they entire spoon and Naomi just giggled.

"This is lame, my brother reduced to a mere, a mere...."

"Have some patience Shu, everything happens for a reason. The doctor said to give him this medicine twice a day and his state shouldn't worsen"

Shu turned and walked away.

"Maybe we should go get some fresh air too." Naomi exclaimed turning back to Seth.

And he smiled awkwardly at her.

She took him to the beach where the stood with their feet in the water and Seth splashed around as if he was child. Naomi giggled

"You like the water huh?" She asked

When suddenly he took a handful of the water and started drinking out his hand. Naomi gently placed his hand in hers stopping him from consuming any of the beach water.

"Noooo, not good she said"

He just gave her blank stare and cooed

He let his hand down and then repeated the action but this time Naomi looked on and sighed.

He started coughing and spitting and Naomi let out a loud laugh.

"See I told ya" She said

Back at home

"Is your concealment technique still in effect Shu?" Shu's father asked as they worked in the fields outside of the house.

"It 's been in effect for years Pa? The only people who can find our house are people I want to." Shu responded

His father looked away

"Why the sudden concern?' Shu asked

"The stars, they're sending me a weird message, something I can't deduce"
