Seth and his younger brother Shu stood in his father's study, across from his father who glared at them from behind his desk.

"It has been brought to my attention that you've been meeting with the Chief's son Seth"

"But how'd you...?"

"Never mind that!" His father spoke sternly, cutting him off. Shu bowed in his head in shame, he'd followed his brother and relayed the information to his father.

"How could you? After what happened to your mother. After what they did?"

"Pa, before yesterday I didn't even know, I swear -"

"Don't lie to me boy!" His father stood up angrily raising his voice. "To fraternise with them is to disrespect this family."

"But Dad, ra isn't even like that"

"I said hush boy." His father continued sternly "I've been a warrior long before you dreamt of being born, I know all of their tactics. They killed your mother, Thinking she possessed the power which you bear, so that their family would remain the the most powerful in the village, to maintaining their idiotic heiarchy."

"Dad That wasn't even the current chief, Ra and his father have nothing to do with that" Seth tried to plead his case

"The only reason we let them breathe today is to preserve peace in the village, you are forbidden from seeing him again." His father commanded "For the next three weeks will you not leave this house and Shu you will make sure of that."

"Y-Yes father" Shu answered.

Seth was furious, he thought back to the promise he'd made with Ra.

The situation was quite unfortunate, he couldn't let his best friend down.

He proceeded to his room where he would serve out his three week grounding.

"Hey, I'm sorry Seth." Shu apologised as he followed him to the room.

"It was you? You ratted me out?" Seth asked furiously bowing his head trying to contain his emotions.

"Dad had grown suspicious of you a while now and sent me to follow you this morning. I could not lie to him" Shu tried to explain "They killed our mother Seth"

"Ra didn't do anything" Seth angrily gritted as he opposed Shu.

"I understand your frustration, but you might want to get out of my face" Shu threatened

"Or what lil bro? You gonna tell daddy?" Seth taunted him

with that Shu threw the first blow punching Seth across the side of his face, Seth immediately retaliated by throwing his body, slamming Shu on the ground and landing on top of him. Shu kicked him off and tackled him again but Seth managed to get out of the way. The both boys took their fighting stance and started going at it in the hallway of the house. Until Shu kicked Sethat  the side of his head knocking him into a picture frame that hung on the wall causing it to fall and shatter. Both the boys stared at the picture, it was a picture of them with their mother when she was still alive.

"What's all this ruckus about?" Their father yelled as he entered into the hallway. He noticed the broken picture of their mother on the floor

"Both of you to your room." He whispered

"Dad I'm sorr-" Seth answered

"NOW!" His fathered shouted and the two boys scurried off into their room.

"Listen Seth, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.."

"I Know" Seth cut him off before he could finish as he plopped himself down on the bed.

Seth clenched his hands tightly trying to control his emotions.

"I won't be causing anymore trouble" he said quietly.

"That's good cause you know you can't beat me." Shu chuckled as he plopped himself down on his bed across the room. "You might be stronger than me but speed determines the battle." He added

Seth sat there in silence. All he could think about was how he was about to let his friend down.

The night sky turned to morning, which quickly turned to noon. Ra went to the top of the waterfall just as the two boys had promised. He waited. The sun turned to rain, he found some shelter under a nearby tree until the sun had come out again, and Seth was nowhere to be found.

Back at Seth's house he laid on his bed staring up at the ceiling, he peered over to clock on the wall it was already half past noon.

"What's so special about that Ra guy anyway?" Shu asked

Seth looked over to him but didn't answer at first, finally when he found the strength to reply "It's just that I made a promise."

"What kinda promise?" Shu asked

"He's leaving the village to go away for an indefinite amount of time, today was supposed to be our last meet up. I promised him I'd be there."

Shu peered at his brother "You're serious huh?" He asked

Seth looked at him as if to say yes but didn't answer

"Okay, then go" Shu replied

"What?" Seth asked almost in disbelief

"Yeah, I'll cover for you thats what brothers do."

"U sure?" Seth asked

"Why are you wasting time? Your friend has somewhere to be right?"

Seth smiled.

Back at the waterfall Ra grew impatient and furious "SOME FRIEND!" He shouted into the hilltop. " I was dumb to believe in another human anyway he whispered to himself." He turned and walked into dark of the surrounding forest "All I ever needed was me anyway!"

Just then Seth would come running down the other side of the stream. "Ra!" He called out, hoping his friend would respond

But when he got to the spot, no one was there, He looked around he knew he'd missed his friend. His eyes welled up with emotion as a cold wind blew pass.

He knew he fucked up.
