Chapter 5

Shelby's pov

I made a group with Andrew, Amanda, and Trevor, through the whole class period I could feel someone staring at me. I had missed talking to Andrew and Trevor so I let it slide but I would pay careful attention to who had been watching me, he had some nerve. He probably thinks I did not catch him checking me out in the hallway, but he wasn't exactly subtle. Just because he is my Alpha later tonight and there will be a huge ceremony and party gives him no right to kiss me then walk out after I had fallen asleep then stare at me in the hall as he did. I was not like every other girl in this school, I refused to fall to his feet and beg him to go on a date with me. I mean I would love to date him and could not get that kiss out of my head, but I refused to see him as anything other than my future alpha.

"Class dismissed," Eric said. "Ms. Bolton may I see you after class," Eric was gripping the desk.

Amanda gave me a look; I knew that there was something going between the two of them. She was lucky to have met her mate already, we were old enough to meet our mates, but my wolf was still too young to sense ours even if he had been in the same room as me. I would have to wait for a little bit about a month before I would know who my mate was.

Amanda's POV:

"Mr. Evans," I said, my heart was pounding, I knew who he was before he even opened the door. I was terrified, I had waited for so long for my mate and we had a very special predicament that most people do not have. Though he was only a couple of years older than me he was my teacher and I was only in high school.

"Amanda, what class do you have next?" Eric asked.

"English, why?" I asked.

"Can I write you a pass?"

"Yes, I mean no. It is the first day of school and I do not want to make a bad first impression," I said.

"Smart and beautiful. Can I drive you home after school?"

"Yes, I'll see you then," I said.

James's POV:

When school finally ended, I walked out of my car which just happened to be parked right next to Shelby. She had brought her flashy car, the one that she had taken to the mall the day before. Her father had always bought her the best of everything she could ever need or want.

"You did not have to walk me to my car, I can find it and I am more than capable of protecting myself against unmated males," Shelby said to Trevor as she approached her car.

"Well, I had an alternate reason for walking you to your car. I am anxious to learn the answer to the question I asked you earlier today," Trevor said but he was looking at me, he knew I loved her. "I want to date you and you promised me an answer by the end of the day," Trevor turned to her, looking her in the eyes.

"Yes, I did promise you an answer," Shelby paused, finally noticing that I was standing nearby. "Got a problem with privacy dumbass?" Shelby asked addressing me.

"Not particularly but in all honesty, I don't particularly like you being alone with him," I answered sending a glare at Trevor.

"Who I am alone with is none of your concern James, you are not in control of me," Shelby said back. I leaned back onto my car to watch the rest of their conversation, I had to drive Trevor to the packhouse to prepare for tonight's celebration.

"So, will you be my girlfriend?" Trevor asked Shelby again.

"Let's go on a date and I will answer after. I don't really believe in dating outside of mates, but I suppose it would not hurt. I mean if I meet him, we could always break up," Shelby answered.
