Chapter 16

Amanda's pov

Joey and I were laughing in the corner of the room, Trevor was smirking. Right before Shelby had arrived, Trevor showed up and told us about how she spent the past 6 months there and how they started a relationship. He even claimed that she agreed to be his Luna when he took over the pack, I knew he was lying. I knew Shelby and I knew that she was in love with James, whether her head knew it or not. She was stubborn and argumentative, I respected her more than anyone else, but she was a hard head.

"What do you think is going to happen between the two of them?" Joey asked innocently. We had to be careful about our relationship, we could not risk it being out in the open with Eric still around.

"Are you sure that you want to know?" I met his brown eyes raising an eyebrow.

"...no," he said after a short pause.

"Nothing too bad," immediately after I said that James took the doors off its hinges.

"YOU SON OF A BITCH! HOW DARE YOU DO THAT TO HER?"

"JAMES STOP," Shelby followed through the door.

"WHY ARE YOU DEFENDING HIM?" James turned to her.

"It was an accident. He did not mean it,"

"Really? You think I did not mean it?" Trevor questioned. "The only reason that you came back to him is because you know that you would have left him for me. If you did not," Trevor smirked.

"Get out," Shelby turned to him with a threatening aura.

The conference room was silent as Trevor casually walked toward the door. Then he turned around and made eye contact with Shelby saying, "My door is always open if you ever need a real man," Trevor threw a wink at her before exiting.

Shelby made her way to James's side and put her hand on his tense arm and whispered something into his ear. Attempting to calm him down, we were all a little shocked that James did not rip Trevor's head off right there.

"Well, that was dramatic," Darren said from the corner. Causing almost all of us to laugh, Shelby and James gave light chuckles but were obviously still upset.

"Let's get down to business," James said sitting at the head of the table. Thomas took his place on James's right with Darren on his left. Joey and I sat across from Darren; Shelby was left standing not knowing where to sit. "On my left love," James called to her.

"Oh," She let out and took her seat. Carli and Eric came into the room, Carli sitting next to Darren and Eric sat between Shelby and I. He leaned over to kiss me, and I turned so that he kissed my cheek. I could feel Joey getting mad next to me.

"Glad you could join us," Thomas said glaring at Eric.

"Training ran late," Eric gave a short response.

"Well now that we are all here, I think that we should talk logistics. Having been to the enemy pack, we know that they are surrounded by mountains and the ocean," Thomas started pointing to the map.

"Wait we already did a scouting mission," Eric questioned.

"Yes, we just got back from it not too long ago," I responded.

"You are a pack doctor in training. What were you doing in the field? And why was I not involved in the mission? I am the pack's top warrior, I should have been involved," He ranted.
