We were at Evelyn's apartment again.
None of us were skinny enough or light enough to enter the apartment.
"Captain Herrera, Station 19 needs your help." Warren said into his radio.
Andy
"Captain Herrera, Station 19 needs your help." It was Warren.
I picked my radio up.
Robert
"I don't ride with 19 anymore. I can't help you."
"Herrera." Maya said into her radio.
"I have to be at Station 23. Make sure Maddox doesn't burn down the Kitchen. He nearly did it before."
"Like Captain Herrera nearly did it before." Montgomery interjected.
Everybody except Andy laughed.
"It's Evelyn, Andy. None of us here are skinny enough or light enough to enter the apartment." I said into my radio.
There was radio silence.
Andy
"I don't ride with 19 anymore. I can't help you."
"Herrera." It was Maya.
"I have to be at Station 23. Make sure Maddox doesn't burn down the Kitchen. He nearly did it before."
"Like Captain Herrera nearly did it before." It was Montgomery.
Everybody except me laughed since I knew they were talking about Dad.
"It's Evelyn, Andy. None of us here are skinny enough or light enough to enter the apartment." It was Robert.
I put my radio down.
"Ruiz, you're in charge while I'm gone. Make sure Maddox doesn't burn down the Station or Kitchen." I told him, pulling my Firefighter pants on.
"Alright. I won't let you down."
"You better not." I told Ruiz, sliding my Firefighter jacket on.
"I won't." He promised as I zipped it up.
I pulled my Firefighter boots on.
I pulled my pants over them.
I got in Engine 23.
I put my Oxygen tank and mask on the passenger seat.
Ruiz opened the garage doors.
I put the keys in the ignition.
Engine 23's engine started.
I plopped my helmet that has "Herrera" on the back of it on my head.
I flicked the sirens on.
I pulled out of Station 23.
Robert
"Hold on, Evelyn. Help is coming." Maya spoke through the door.
"Okay."
You heard sirens blaring outside.
A minute later
Andy came out of the elevator.
She had her Firefighter jacket, pants, boots, helmet, and mask on.
"Captain Herrera."
"Captain Beckett."
Andy easily slid through the door opening.
"Evelyn, it's Andy Herrera. I'm here to help you again."
