The storage room door slammed closed, plunging me into darkness...

How did this all happen? you ask. Well, this all started one month ago when I began to suspect my archnemesis of being a vampire. It was kinda obvious really, black hair, pale, papery skin (except for Saturdays, on Saturdays his skin was flawless) and storm grey eyes that I definitely don't lose myself in while we have staring/glaring competitions during class (that's probably why my grades are so low, but if you tell anyone I will deny it till the day I die). At first, it just seemed like his improved mood on Saturdays was due to lack of school, but if you paid attention (not that I was) you could see that that wasn't the case. At Ravenwood Academy, our uniforms were expected to be impeccable, any crease or stain would require punishment of the most extreme kind (the principal's words not mine). However, Niran (the vampire) seemed to always escape scot-free despite the rusty splatters along his collar and cuffs. I don't know how he got away with it, it might have been his charm, with that wind tousled hair and troublemaker smile (... let's just not mention this to anyone. ever.) or some magic spell that for some reason doesn't work on me.  It wasn't suspicious in the beginning, but about one month ago, the stains became more frequent, the good mood more common, and the number of disappearing students rose. You see the Ravenwood always had a history of disappearing students, that's why most of us were sent here, in the hopes that we'd disappear as well. Ravenwood Academy was a boarding school on the edge of a small island off the coast of Amzcuym, the only students sent there were odd, unwanted, suspected psych cases. I was sent there on my 16th birthday after I tried to stop a bus with my mind (it worked, but mainly because I was standing in the middle of the road and the driver didn't want to be convicted of murder (I caused a serious crash (only three people died though😁))). It didn't matter though, I was gonna be shipped off eventually anyways.

Now, back to me being shoved in a cupboard.

So, my bunkmate was missing that night and I was bored. Many thoughts occurred to me as to what I could do, but none were appealing except sneaking to the library to borrow that book on vampires that I'd been meaning to get for a while. Wrapping my fur-lined, velvet cloak (which was dark blue like the midnight sky, but not that dark) around me, I crept through the darkened stone corridors lit only by dimmed oil lamps, trying not to make too much noise. It was after hours and I could hear the principal's YB picture box playing in the distance. As I neared the library I could hear muffled thuds as if books were toppling from their shelves. I gave the heavy oak door a light shove and it swung inwards with a creak, the light from the hallway spilled into the room. As I stepped over the threshold, the sight that befell my eyes struck me with horror, turning my blood to ice despite the heated air coming from the AC. Books were strewn across the floor, pages floated through the air, a shelf had toppled and now lay upon the mound of destruction like the body of a loved one. Speaking of bodies, my friend Bates lay sprawled beside the devastating sight, blood trickling from a wound in his throat. I rushed towards the books, checking for damage, the blood had soaked through pages rendering them unintelligible. Turning, I checked for Bates' pulse, it was faint but still there. As I went to lift him, something struck my shoulder, pushing me backwards, pinning me to the cold stone wall in a darkened corner of the room. My eyes were still adjusting to the darkness when a familiar voice spoke.

"What are you doing here?" he growled. My brows furrowed as my vision became clearer. Niran had me pinned against the wall, his hair blending with the surrounding blackness, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. His eyes were cold and filled with what appeared to be fury.

"I-I was -"Niran's gloved hand covered my mouth before I could say anything else. He dragged me away from the wall before shoving me into a pitch-black storage cupboard, leaving the scent of leather and the taste of blood behind.

And now ya'll caught up! 😁
