A small pale egg was pitched from the tree, spiraling down toward the grassy ground at a rapid speed. The light brown spots that coated the shell were nearly a blur as it smacked into the dirt, continuing it's chaotic path down the hill. It tumbled and flipped head over heels, increasing the distance from the nest it had been pushed from, heading in no particular direction. Seeming to have a mind of it's own, the egg dodged the boulders and trees scattered around the field, making it's way into the dark spruce forest. Sliding down a small dip, the egg hit a ridge on the edge of a small drop-off, and into the air it went....

Just to come down on a small set of man-made stairs.

The pale shell quivered as it bounced down the incline, landing on the stone floor and smacking into a cobblestone wall. The force of the solid object was enough to halt the egg's movement. Instead, the energy was bounced around the outer edge of the shell, sending a crack over the top of it in a spider-webbed pattern. The egg shook, pieces of the shell flaking off the sides. A large chunk of the pale shell suddenly fell to the floor, a fuzzy paw sticking up out of the hole. The little foot flailed in the moist air as a small squeak was emitted from inside the egg.

Rocking to the side, the egg suddenly burst, shell scattering across the cold stone. The gooey mess of a creature laid on it's back, seeming shocked at it's sudden position. With a sneeze, she kicked her legs in the air, rocking back and forth before pitching herself forward. She clumsily landed on her head, her back end sticking up in the air as her tail slapped the floor with a loud wet sound. Climbing uneasily to her feet, she wrapped the tail around her back leg and shivered, bright yellow eyes staring up at the stairs that led to a wooden building, light shining from one of the windows.

She tottered toward the steps, sniffing them for a moment before eagerly bounding up a few with new-found balance. Her dusty-white coat shivered as she pinned her ears to her skull, bracing herself against the cold. Slowly but surely, she reached the top of the stairs and trotted toward the house, the light from the window reflecting off of her eyes. With a snort, she paced up to the oak door and pressed her nose against the wood, breathing in the scent of wood and some sort of strange smell that didn't come from an animal.

Sitting back on her haunches, she raised a paw and clawed at the bottom of the door, a whimper escaping her throat. The noise was loud compared to the silence around her, her cries echoing through the trees. A howl from a lone wolf was picked up from the eastern hills, the sound carrying through the wind as the cold air tore at her wet coat. Her eyes flashed nervously, flickering to the shadows against the trees. Lowering her head, she butted it against the door, raking her dull claws up and down on the wood. As she did so, there was a crash from the other side of the door, a man's voice reaching her ears. Footsteps approached her, the handle turning as the door was opened wide enough for a blonde head to peek through, the human glaring out at the night as he glanced left and right.

With a growl, he went to shut the door, but the creature mewled softly, staring upwards with wide eyes as his gaze dropped to the ground, the glare sliding off of his face. "What in the Nether-" he muttered, staring back at her for a moment. She mewled again, the sound more pitiful than the last as she shivered, pressing up against his leg for warmth. He cringed, taking a step back and pushing her away with his foot. "No no no cat.... creature-thing. Whatever you are. You stay outside." He said sharply, pushing her farther away and shutting the door. With a troubled sigh, he turned and proceeded to go back into his living room, but a loud cry halted him in his tracks. He was well aware that the noise was being made by the unknown creature at his door, but despite himself he walked over to his window and peered out.

The wet animal was pressed against his door, shaking terribly as she cried, and he frowned. A moment later, he smacked himself on the forehead, his hand sliding slowly down his face. He groaned, stomping back over to the door and opening it. She turned her head sharply to stare at him, mouth closing as her cries faded. He glared at her, but the look faltered on his face. "Fine. You can come in, just shut up." he snarled, watching as she seemed to perk up. She slowly stepped through his doorway, peering around curiously with her shoulders hunched. As soon as she moved out of his way, the human slammed the door shut, watching with a bit of satisfaction as she jumped and darted under his couch, leaving wet footprints behind her.
