Y/N POV
" Y/N! GET THIS RIGHT CAN YOU??" I scolded myself after failing the same move for the thousandth time.
My perspiration trickled down my forehead and I looked like I just came out of the shower, pathetic as ever.
My body trembled as I felt my weak body crumbling. I trudged to the side of the practice room and my body slid down the wall. I sprawled out on the floor, not giving a single care of the world.
Maybe mom was right, I wasn't cut out to be an idol. All these years of training just for me to fall back to square one. Negative thoughts just kept rushing to my mind, and I could sense a panic attack coming.
My phone suddenly vibrated, and it was already 3.20AM. I've been practicing for 6 hours straight, and still can't get that one move right.
Some people dream of being an idol, thinking it's all smooth sailing and that it's an easy path to success. It's not all sunshine and roses. Working your ass off 24/7 without a definite future surely sounds better than a 9 to 5 desk job?? /s
Sometimes, the thought of giving up just lingers in my mind. The devil plays with my heart, constantly telling me I cannot make it.
However, everyone also has an angel in them. It's been guiding me through my darkest times, telling me to never give up. I wish it was that easy.
Deep in thought, I didn't notice Yeori of Twilight settling herself beside my sprawled body.
"Sunbae, are you alright?" Yeori stared at me with worry written all over her face.
"Yeori-ah, am I a failure? Look at you, new rookie group of BigHit and already on par with TXT. Don't even call me sunbae, I'm your hoobae now." I sighed, looking down on the floor.
"Y/N-sunbae, I'm sorry that you had to go through that just because of two inconsiderate bitches. I'm angry for you too. However, all is not lost. I used to have the same mentality as you until one day I told myself that nothing will change unless I myself do. I practiced harder and harder, giving my all to every vocal, dance, expression, and variety training. Believe me and my motto, you fail once you give up. But you've succeeded once you stand up."
I could only look at the 19 year old girl in shame. Almost my age and already an abundance of wisdom unlike me.
"You're right, Yeori-ah. I shouldn't act like that, because when there's a will, there's a way. Thank you so much for giving me this small yet memorable lesson." She looked at me with a beautiful smile, nodding her head.
"By the way, what the hell are you doing here at 3AM?"
" I-I wanted to practice more, hehe I'll be going now!!" Yeori immediately ran out of the room after, much to my bewilderment.
I sat up straight, motivated and energised now. Back to practice we go.
26 January 2020
The bright dazzling spotlight in the practice room awoke me from my slumber, as I realised I had fallen asleep in the practice room.
After refreshing myself, I walked out back to my dorm but on the way, I noticed Yerin and Yuju carrying big bags and luggages.
"Going on a trip?" I asked, but was met with two pair of sorrow-stricken eyes.
They continued their journey towards the big van ignoring my question, as I got even more curious.
"Sorry, Y/N-ah, can you move?" Sowon appeared behind me with luggages as well, followed closely behind by SinB, Umji and Eunha.
"Must be a long holiday, huh?" I cracked a small joke which usually elicited giggles, but these time their grim expressions never changed and before I knew it, they were off.
With that strange encounter, I shrugged it off and went back to the practice room ready for another gruesome session of dancing.

"I n-need a break.." I panted, slowly making my way to the couch.
I whipped out my phone and notifications bombarded it.
BREAKING: SOURCE MUSIC ANNOUNCES DISBANDMENT OF GFRIEND
My heart dropped at the news. Was that why they were packing their luggages?!
I instantly regretted the small jokes I made previously when they were probably in distress.
Though, why did they suddenly disband? There were no signs or clues of them splitting, heck I even saw Yerin and Sowon being the goofs they are a few days ago.
I checked the fancafe for the offical disbandment letter, and low and behold it was true.
" Hello. This is Source Music.
The exclusive artist contract with GFRIEND and Source Music will conclude on May 22.
After careful consideration and extensive discussion, GFRIEND and Source Music have come to an agreement to follow separate paths to continued growth.

We would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to GFRIEND who has allowed Source Music to accompany them on their journey.

Source Music will always continue to cheer for the members as they take the first step towards new beginnings.
Thank you. "
It was heartbreaking and hard to take that a group I was so close to had just suddenly disbanded. Another cruel thing about the kpop industry, the authorities ALWAYS have control behind the scenes, no matter whether the idols like it or not.
I tried dialling Yerin's number but the line cut off. I sighed, knowing that the members needed some time to themselves.
Another notification suddenly popped out on my phone, and my heart rate doubled after seeing the headlines.
