Her beautiful blue-green eyes speckled with silver peeked around the corner at the plump rabbit scavenging for food in a patch of sunlight.

"Do we have to?" the girl asked.

"Yes Sylvia, our clan needs to eat," a boy, about eighteen, answered. She wanted to go home and be with her friend, Melissa. She wanted to be as normal as she could possible be, and learning how to hunt and fight in hand to hand combat was not part of it. She sighed and fluffed her wavy golden hair. Sylvia stepped out into the sun. A few moments later she came back with the rabbit dangling from her hand.

"Here," Sylvia said, scrunching up her nose and tossing it to the boy.

"Thanks," he replied as deeply disgusted.

They walked a little ways from the patch of sunlight, when Sylvia started running.

"Hey! Where's the fire?" the boy called from behind. She glanced over her shoulder and laughed. This was funny to her and other dragons, because they breath fire when they're a dragon and they are immune to fire when they're in human form, so any fire shouldn't be a problem. After a few short seconds of laughter Sylvia's face became serious.

"I smell wolves, Trevor," she said coldly. "And do you know how I can tell? Because Drake's with them," that was enough of a reason to make the boy run too. The rest of the run was quiet. They came into wide open plain with a gentle sloping hill covered with tall, thick oak trees. Trevor, now in the lead, stopped Sylvia without a noise. She pointed to the hill.

"Of course! They are probably hiding in the trees!" Trevor explained. Sylvia nodded with him as he said this.

"Our best bet is to go back to the clan to warn them. Then we can take our best fighters and go after them, if they are still there," Sylvia whispered, strategizing. The plan was set. They ran the whole way back.

"Hello?" one of the guards called from his post. Trevor waved him away as he started towards them.

"It's just us Paddrick," Sylvia reassured him. "But we do have important news to attend to,"

"I see," he said. "Carry on," they continued to enter the clan with Paddrick by their side, when he stopped them.

"What exactly is the important news?" he asked them.

"Come along and see," Trevor said in a hard voice.

The word had spread by the time they got to the main building. The council looked as sharp and old as rock. Their thin gray hair was worn down from stress. They are the oldest members in the clan.

"What is it?" the youngest member asked, looking down his nose at them. "If it's nothing of our problem, leave," he turned away from them.

"Ahme! It actually does concern you!" Sylvia shouted, "Do you care about your clan's safety?"

"Yes, yes we do," the second oldest member of the council answered.

"Do you now? Well, there are wolves across our border!" she snapped. That got the council's attention. The oldest one grabbed a microphone and whispered something quickly into it.

"Trevor, gather our finest warriors! You will have to change, if you want to scare the flea ridden wolves away!" command one of the members. "Sylvia you will stay behind! No questions asked!"

Sylvia growled to herself and turned away. WOW! They know Drake's there! That's why they won't let me GO! STUPID COUNCIL! I should go off and fight on my own, she thought. She walked out of the main building with Trevor.

"Bye, Sylvia. You'll be safe here," Trevor said to her as they parted ways. She sighed. What if I don't want to be safe? Sylvia thought to herself. She headed to the darkest corner and snuck around to the guard post.
