"And that ship took you here? To the Island of Darkness?" Lloyd asked. He stretched out his left leg, which had fallen asleep. That was okay, though. He wanted to know the rest of her tale.

"Yes," Shuna said. "As it would turn out, it was full of monks seeking the Temple of Light. One of them found me hidden below deck."

"Then what happened?"

"They took me in. Although I was a stowaway, they were all very kind and very welcoming." Smiling softly, she set her now empty coconut shell on the ground. She turned to him, seeming like she was about to go on, when she suddenly tensed. "Um, before I continue, I have a question for you, if you don't mind."

"Yeah, go ahead."

"How... how do you feel about spiders?"

Lloyd blinked. Well, that was kind of random. "Uh, they're fine, I guess? As long as they're not crawling on me, heh."

"Oh, I see," she said in a small voice. "Well, in that case, please sit very still."

"Why? What's the matter?"

"Nothing! Nothing, just... there's a black piece of lint in your hair, that's all. It happens to be moving, but I assure you, it's not a spider."

Okay, Lloyd noted. She's a very bad liar.

"AGHHHHH!" he yelped, his hands flying to his head. "Where? Get it off, get it off!"

"Woah, careful!" Shuna reached over and held him steady. She was scarily strong for someone so small (his ribs were still throbbing being punched, in fact). "I've got it, don't worry."

Lloyd thought she looked suspiciously serene as she plucked the creature from his head, like she was struggling to hold back a laugh. She gingerly set the "lint" in the grass, where it crawled away coolly, unconcerned about the havoc it just wreaked.

"That was the wind that moved it," Shuna said

"That was the wind that moved it," Shuna said. "Because it was lint. And lint does not have eight legs to walk away on. So you have no cause for worry!"

She sounded so genuinely concerned about him that Lloyd almost told her he believed her.

"Uh, thanks," he managed. "But I'm pretty sure that was a spider."

He coughed awkwardly. Well, that had been embarrassing. Yet, surprisingly, he didn't feel bad about it; it wasn't anything like those times at Darkley's when he wanted to crawl into a hole and die. This was... fun. He laughed.

"Well, look at you, brave ninja. Laughing in the face of danger," Shuna gently prodded his foot with hers.

"Heh, I don't think a spider really counts as 'danger.'"

"Agree to disagree!"

"So you admit it was a spider."

"Uh– well– I was talking about lint! Whoever said lint isn't dangerous?"
