Right, hello. This chapter I am really excited about, we finally get more into the book and so far I feel like the story has been really slow and fast at the same time. X) This chapter is dedicated to  @j1ld0uu for being so supportive and commenting a lot—which I love so no need to apologize.

"Kol."

Michael's POV

Mieczyslaw stood in the clearing staring at his twin. Kol and Mieczyslaw were always both troublemakers. Always the ones to run around town laughing and pulling pranks, stealing fresh pastries from the bakery. Telling their younger sister, Rebekah, wild stories about Vikings, and creatures that stood 60 feet tall who breathed fire and crushed kingdoms, and everything in between.

Disdain sparked in my chest. It is true that I do not feel much for them, I had not ever since that night that his "children" were turned into blood-sucking demons. They were not as bad as Klaus but they were still monstrosities that will have the same destiny as the rest of their siblings.

Mieczyslaw looks up at me and looks as if he is suppressing a glare at my smirk. He clenches his fist and takes up a look of indifference.

Throughout all the centuries Mieczyslaw never changes much. Always very perceptive—like me—but never good at concealing his emotions.

It was a letdown when we found out he was a witch. Such a disappointment he turned out to be.

"Mischief," Kol whispered bringing our attention back to him. His eyes had cleared for a moment, even in the "drugged" state he was in, he still managed to hide his emotions, he and Mieczyslaw were always so similar and different in many ways. They were private with each other in a way that their siblings were not because although they all loved each other very much on the inside, Mieczyslaw and Kol were always like kindred souls, one and the same. It disgusted him, "What're you doin', you can't be 'ere." He slurred.

Mieczyslaw winced, tears rimming his eyes which made me roll mine. He started walking towards Kol before I smoothly stepped in front of Kol.

Mieczyslaw's face hardened humming, "Let go of him Mikael," He lifted his chin up defiantly, "What do you want? You obviously do not want to negotiate but I do not know how anybody can stand you. Honestly, the people who tolerate you on a daily basis are the real heroes."

I hold back any emotion from my face but I lose the smirk and Mieczyslaw's lips quirk. (a/n yes I am a poet and I adore rhyming)

I smile which makes Mieczyslaw falter and lose his defensive position for a second.

"Oh, Mieczyslaw. You always spoke before you thought." I pull out the spelled white oak steak and I hear a gasp come from the human and Mieczyslaw. I stepped closer to him and I see him repress a fearful shudder. Because if there is one thing my dear children are afraid of, it is dying.

"Where did you... find that?" He swallows in between his words, "I thought the tree had been burned down."

"I have my ways." The heretic was staring intently at the wood stake as I tossed it carelessly from hand to hand, "And do not think that you can burn this as easily as you did the original white oak tree. I had a very special someone spell it for me so it can not be destroyed." I gesture to the "empty" space next to me and Esther drops the spell that concealed her in all ways so that Mieczyslaw did not sense her, see her, or hear her heart beating.

Mieczyslaw's breath faltered and saw him turn in on himself as Esther stepped forward and tentatively gave him a hug. He stood still for a moment before collapsing into her arms. They hugged each other tightly until Esther pulled back and pet the back of Mieczyslaw's head. My lip curled at the affection Esther was giving, Esther had always had a soft spot for Mieczyslaw but she knew what they were going to do needed to be done.
