Cassandra Carmichael

The sound of a metal in contact with glass echoed across the room as the clinking continued until all the noise died down, and all eyes were on Sienna, who was up on stage with a mic and glass of champagne in hand. She is just about to deliver her speech as my maid of honor.

"Attention, everyone, as I deliver the speech that I came up with while having fun in the club where we held Cassandra's small goodbye party for her title as a single woman," Sienna begins with a teasing smile on her face. She never fails to amaze me with the way she just dominates the whole room with her energy and charisma. Everyone falls for one Sienna Wescott.

Sebastian went to deliver his best man speech before Sienna did because he wanted to make sure he could still deliver it before he had to take their friends home for being drunk. His speech was short but executed wonderfully with many cheers and shouts from their friends. I zoned out most of the time throughout the whole program of the reception because I already knew what was going to happen.

The air in the room was light and refreshing as the guests laughed and smiled while listening to Sebastian's many jokes added to his speech. Their friends never failed to make a comment on every single one, which made the guests laugh even more. Even I could not help but feel my lips form a smile on my face, something that was unprecedented back in my previous life.

I was too busy worrying about the wedding and finally getting married to the point where all my emotions felt dulled at the reception, and I did not enjoy it one bit. I still remember after the wedding and reception, Azriel and I had our very first argument in our hotel room, where we should have spent our first night as husband and wife blissfully, but it ended on a wrong note because of the fight.

He and I were seated right next to each other at the end of the room as we ate our dinner, and I could not help but sneak a few glances from him in my peripheral vision. That is when I saw it. This is the first time I have seen him smile in my second life, the beautiful curving of his lips glowing on his face.

This is one of the few moments where I saw genuine happiness on Azriel's face.

Sienna's speech finally came to an end as she raised her glass for a toast which the rest of the guests followed, "May your love flourish and grow, conquering every hardship that befalls you as husband and wife. I hope that through your love, you may find each other time and time again."

Her last words stuck with me like a sore thumb. As everyone was clapping and whistling for Sienna's wonderful and sentimental speech, I could not get over her toast. Her choice of words was bothering me as it is something that could describe my current situation. The fact that there were many instances where Sienna made shady remarks toward my parents and his for this forced arrangement was a funny bit for me, and I appreciate her sacrificing the risk of getting kicked out of the family just to talk bad about my parents who forced me through this wedding.
