(Author's Note: Hi, I just wanted to say that this is my first story so there's a lot of room for growth, but I hope you guys like it!!
(Another Note is that again, this is my first story and it's not very long, the chapters are kind of short as well. But anyways, I hope you like it!)
I sit there tapping my pencil on the paper repeatedly, thinking of the answer. C'mon Ellie think, I tell myself. How could I not remember this? I studied it all yesterday so I could be prepared for this moment right now when I'm actually needing to apply the knowledge. Oh yeah, it's centripetal acceleration, duh.
I'm instantly relieved as I circle the last answer for my AP physics test. I then check my test over once more and turn it in.
I turn to look over to my friend Isabella (Otherwise known as Izzy) to see if she's done yet. Feeling my gaze, she looks up at me to meet my eyes. I mouth whisper to her "you done?" and she nods her head yes.
After the bell rings for lunch, I get up and meet Izzy at her desk.
"How do you think you did?" Izzy asks.
"I think I did well." I answer. "What about you?"
"Good besides the last question." She tells me as we begin heading to the cafeteria.
"Oh my gosh, same. Please tell me you put centripetal acceleration." I reply.
"Yes. Thank goodness I was so stressed." Izzy says as the wrinkles on her forehead begin to clear.
This is kind of how me and Izzy relate apart from our other friends because we both receive pressure to do well in school academically from our parents. We met in geometry honors our freshman year and became close since then. And now we're in our junior year and we're taking AP Calculus together.
"Hey guys." Me and Izzy say to our friends as we sit down at the lunch table.
"Hey." Francis and Sofia say as they look up from their food trays.
"Guess who's going to Cabo over Christmas break." Sofia announces excitedly.
"No way." I say.
"You lucky bitch." Francis says.
"You're going to love it, it was so pretty when I went." Izzy says.
"When did you find out?" I ask.
"Last night. My mom really wanted us to take a family trip so they booked flights and everything a couple weeks ago." Sofia replies.
"Oh look guys, Lucy's coming with Zach Pius." Francis says.
"Hey guys." Lucy waves as she arrives at our table.
"Hey ladies." Zach says, which earns a greeting from all of us.
"Alright, well I'll see you." Zach says as he kisses Lucy on the cheek and walks over to his friends.
After he walks away, all eyes go to Lucy.
"Guys what?" Lucy asks.
"Didn't things just end with you and Oliver a week ago?" Francis asks.
"Have we ever known Lucy to be slow in getting back with other guys?" Sofia states.
"Nothing ever really happened between me and Oliver though. We just hooked up a couple times and that was it. It was a mutual break up. So now I'm exploring more options." Lucy answers.
Lucy is the one in the friend group who is by far the most popular. She's the one who gets us into all the parties. She's super bold and genuinely doesn't care what other people have to say. I aspire to be like that.
I wish I didn't care what people said or thought about me. I wish I didn't care what my parents thought of me so much. Ever since I was little I received an enormous amount of pressure from my parents. My dad is a big CEO so he expects me to carry on the legacy and do something in the business major. Because of my dad's job, I am pretty privileged. Sometimes I feel guilty about it though. I was just born into this wealth while others have to actually work to get the same opportunities I have.
Lucy, Izzy, Sofia, Francis and I all have families that are friendly with one another. Mostly through our dad's businesses. We all met through going to similar functions and country club parties. Except for me and Francis. We both went to the same middle school so we've been close since then. Francis is probably the person I'm closest to out of everyone, only because we've known each other for so long.
