Paimon floated ahead, towards a cliff overlooking a beautiful scene. Wind blew past, causing my hair to fly backwards, almost like something out of a made up story. It was surreal in a good way, almost. I remembered Celestia's words to me, 'From now on, you are bestowed with my power and will be known as Azure.' Thinking about them now made my head hurt.
"That's a Statue of The Seven! There are a few of these statues scattered across the land to show The Seven's protection over the world. Among the seven gods, this god controls the wind. Paimon's not sure whether the god you're looking for is the Anemo God, but... Paimon'll take you to the Anemo God's place first, and there's a reason why~"
"Oh, and what would that be?"
"Just follow Paimon! This way!"
Paimon floated down the path at a pretty fast speed, and I was slightly too short to keep up by walking at my usual pace. I had to speed up a little to keep close enough to actually hear Paimon's rather interesting words.
"As we all know, poetry and language flow like the wind... There'll definitely be someone there who knows about your sister. At least, that's what Paimon thinks! Whether the gods actually answer you is a different story. You never know unless you try. So, let's hop to it!"
"Something tells me they'll answer with me around. Not sure why."
"You do radiate a rather powerful energy. Are you a god?"
"Not even close. I was given my powers by one, though. I'll explain the rest a bit later."
We swam across a small river to an island which was home to a statue of a god whose name I didn't know at the time. None of us knew what to do now that we were here, so we sat there for a minute looking for any sorts of old writing. In the end, we sort of agreed it involved the gold panel at the statue's base. I ran my fingers along the engraved patterns, not really paying attention. A single orb of teal energy floated around before dissipating, and I got a bunch of flashbacks of memories that weren't my own. It left behind a slight headache, which passed as quickly as it came. Aether tried it himself, and the sequence repeated again, minus the headache.
"Ooh! Did you just feel the elements of the world? Seems all you had to do was just touch the statue and you got the power of Anemo! As much as they may want it, people in this world can never get a hold of powers as easily as you..."
"I just got flashbacks... Can't know for sure."
"This can't be good..."
"It's a bit rude to say that about the power the gods just gave you! If we keep heading west from here, we'll eventually reach Mondstadt, the City of Freedom. Mondstadt is the city of wind, because they worship the God of Anemo. So perhaps, because you got power from the God of Anemo, you can find some clues there. There are also lots of bards there, so perhaps one of them has heard news of your sister. Let's move then! The elements in this world responded to your prayers and Paimon thinks that's a lovely sign."
"No kidding."
We were about to keep going when some slimes appeared in the grass a few feet away. Not sure if they were called slimes at the time, but something told me that they were. A sword made of dark blue metal appeared in my hand, almost by instinct. Every few moments, a white shooting star shot across the blade like a reflection. I swung it at the slimes, and they were reduced to nothing in a few hits. Aether was using his newly acquired 'anemo' powers. In a few minutes, the slimes were nothing but gooey remains, which none of us really wanted to touch.
"These are the Anemo powers you got from the Statue of the Seven. Aww... Paimon's so jealous! Why doesn't Paimon get cool fighting powers!? And you have that crazy sword!"
"I don't know where it came from either. Let's just move."
I dismissed my sword, and it vanished into particles of light. We swam across the river, coming out on the other side with a path leading into the woods. Much more confidently, we walked in, ready for just about anything. As we walked, a massive blue-green object flew overhead.
"Wow! What is that!? There's something huge, in the sky! It's headed towards the heart of the forest. We must proceed with caution."
"No kidding."
"Azure, you have some info on this world. Anything?"
"Nope, nothing. Sorry."
We kept swords out from that point, walking a bit faster. We got to a clearing, where someone about Aether's height was talking to the thing that flew overhead. Now, seeing it here, I could call it a dragon. We hid behind a tree, peeking out. Suddenly, Aether's anemo powers went off, and the dragon roared before flying off. The person in the clearing vanished seconds later.
"That was close! Paimon almost got blown away! Luckily Paimon managed to grab hold of your hair! Thanks."
"Good thing you didn't pull my hair out."
"I'd say it was good we weren't seen..."
"Just what was that? Paimon thought we were gonna get eaten. It definitely has something to do with that weirdo who was talking to the dragon..."
"Is talking to dragons normal?"
"Of course not! Oh? What's that? There's some kind of shiny red thingy on the big rock over there... Let's go take a closer look. Be careful! Paimon doesn't have a good feeling about this..."
We walked up to where the dragon had been perched while being talked to. Floating a couple feet off the ground was a bloodred crystal in the shape of a teardrop. It was radiating a weird energy, and I refused to touch it. Paimon put it in her pocket dimension, thank goodness.
