Friendships
20 years ago, I was born and was handed in the strongest and safest arms that were never gonna let me fall. They were my mum's. Now we are everything to each other...
10 years ago, I had a fight with my best friend in school and we started hating each other. Then I talked to few people who, I later discovered, hated her too. We kinda got along pretty well. Now we are practically Sisters from another mother...
5 years ago, I met a few people who were back benchers like me... One of them was a fan girl like me and others were, well just, back benchers. Now we are like sisters and those back benchers are my bestest buddies and we are currently in different States...
3 years ago, I reached early on my first day of medical college and asked two girls standing there if they were students. They said they were patients. Then automatically my brain assumed that the next two girls sitting inside would be patients. I asked if they were patients. They were not. They were students. They tease me till this date. They thought I was crazy. Now we are Yaar Anmulle...
None of these incidences were planned by me. There were many more people in between. There are many more yet to come. I remember it all. But the point is, the best things come in our lives incidentally. Planning only works in solving math problems, not uncovering the things life has stored ahead for us.
I'm glad for everything that has happened in my life, even the worst things.
Because these people and many more others, have witnessed them and are still here, with me.
I've never had to worry what they will think before making a statement.
I've never had to think before acting crazy in front of them.
I've never had to think before singing and dancing in front of them.
I've never had to think before using rubbish language in front of them.
They know me. The real me. They know I hate curd and love Chinese. They know how I react in different and difficult situations. They even pretend to hate things that I hate, only in front of me and I know it. They love me... I love them...
The best people in your life will come like Diabetes. Because they are there to stay.
Cherish their presence, loyalty and humor (even if there isn't any humor). Stop waiting for new to come.
Eventually you will know the value of their presence. Then one day, while shopping alone or driving to work or watching telly, you'll suddenly laugh at a silly memory and you will be glad that they were there.... You'll be glad that those memories consist of those people who cared...
