  • Dedicated to My Mom because she introduced me to Harry Potter

Hello Everybody! I have never written a chapter of this. (unless you count the one that I had typed on Wattpad but then it deleted). MERP. #wattpadissuestho Anyways, writing the first chapter of something means EVERYTHING! You have to draw the reader in, distinguish your characters, develop your main character, and TELL THE READER WHY READING THIS STORY IS WORTH READING IT! Not to mention get it over a page long. (Errg, wattpad pages are soooo long, so that means tons of google doc pages).

So, I’m pretty sure you know now the stress of writing the first chapter. It’s real stress.

Here ya go. *winces bc chapter will be bad*

“Alexandria? Alexandria Lestrange come down here this minute.” I sighed and put the book I was reading down. As much as I wanted to read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, my mother would simply not allow it. The one time she caught me with a muggle book, she forced me to burn it. I know, it’s terrible. But, that’s what you get for having Bellatrix Lestrange as your mother. You get a big house, a big name and a big personality. Mother says I’m blessed because of my heritage. Pure Blood of the finest. But, again, being a pure blood has its bad disadvantages. First of all, no muggle articles in the house. I had to actually build an invisible cupboard with a password only I knew to keep my muggle stuff. Inside I only had a few items, but a few were still a threat to the relationship between my mother and me.

I grabbed the old battered cover of the book, took it off and replaced it with a newly furnished copy of, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’

Then I set the book down on my shelf and run downstairs. The minute I get down Mother turns towards me. “Alexandria darling, don’t run down the stairs. How many times do I have to tell you, it makes such a noise. Walk down the stairs like a lady would.” Mother sets down the cup of tea she was drinking on the table. As usual her hair is a tangled mess with twigs and dirt in it.

“Mother, you look ill?” I looked up at her pale face and sat down on a stool near the table.

“Oh, don’t be silly I feel perfectly fine. Just a little nervous about your 6th year at Hogwarts, with all the reports from Astoria’s mother--”

I cut her off, “Relax Mother, it’s just Hogwarts. There’s nothing bad there, it’s a perfectly safe place for wizards to be.”

“That’s the problem Alexandria. Some mudbloods just keep coming to Hogwarts. They don’t belong here, in the wizarding world. They belong with the other muggles, far, far away from this place. Away from Hogwarts.”

Mother sighed and looked me in the eye, “I’m worried for you Alexandria.”

“I already told you Mother, you have nothing to be afraid of...these muggles, they have no reason to harm us. They just wish to be with us. That’s all. They’re not going to hurt me, and I won’t hurt them, Mother. There is no reason to be worried for me.” I tried to calm Mother down, she was taking this far too seriously.

“That’s just the problem Alexandria. I do not wish for you to speak or indulge with any of them. If bad comes to worse you may have to harm them. Now, come on, it’s getting late. You must eat your dinner.” Mother started putting some sort of cheese and bread on the table.

I pouted and got up from the table, pushing my stool in noisily. “No. I will not. I mustn’t harm them. It isn’t right. I will talk to them if I wish to Mother. I wasn’t raised to be on the bad side.”

Mother looked at me fiercely. “You weren’t raised to be on the good side either.”

I looked at her and we locked eyes for a long time. I wasn’t going to Hogwarts to be rude to the muggles. Just because their family’s were not raised in the wizarding world, doesn’t mean they can risk the chance of becoming magical. Mother didn’t understand. She was raised in a pureblood family, and when her sister, Andromeda married a muggle, Ted Tonks to be precise, she was disowned by the family. Mother told me the tale, how she used to love Andromeda as they were sisters, but when the Black family disowned her, she was taught to never think of her again.

Mother told me she doesn’t care for Andromeda. I don’t know why. I could never do that to a sibling. Let alone your childhood best friend.

Then I stomped up the stairs, pressing the weight of my feet on each stair. The old staircase shook with the effort and creaked. Mother looked this close to throttling me. Hah.

“I won’t be needing dinner.” I slammed my door shut. The minute it slammed the painting of mother I made when I was 8 fell off the wall. I wouldn’t be picking that up for a long time. Until she apologizes. Probably wanting me to apologize, like that would ever happen.

I walked to my muggle cupboard, unlocked it and grabbed a bag of a delightful treat that they called, ‘Oreos’ and grabbing a bottle of something that fizzed that they called, ‘Izze’. I popped the top off the bottle, grabbed the book I was eating and sat down on my bed. Afterall, I didn’t need dinner. I had this.

*winces bc that was a sucky chapter*

So guys, I know that was an insanely short chapter, but I needed to get this done and uploaded as fast as possible.  It was also quite short because I had a chapter typed up before (and it was sooo good) but I lost it. #wattpadproblems. Anyhoo, I decided I had to upload one of these and TA-DA! I did!

I wasn’t really sure about the way I developed Alexandria as a pureblood and how she tries to fit Bellatrix’s expectations, but doesn’t know quite the way. I know she has a short temper, and I will be having a lot about her temper/anger issues in the first few chapters. Vote if you wanna see more chapters with arguments with her mother. .

If you follow me, you would know that I am doing a challenge in the month of April. (And I’ve challenged a few other people to do so too. If you got challenged, don’t forget to challenge 4 other wattpadians). My challenge is to update every SINGLE ONE of my stories and get up to at least 55 followers. I think I can do it! Anyways, following me gets you sneak peeks on what I’m writing, and you can even be featured in my stories!

I hope you liked it, and don’t forget to like, vote, add to your reading list, share and comment. Also, your votes tell me that you want me to write more chapters like this. If you don’t, well don’t vote. I don’t care. We’re just not buddies anymore.

-Nina-

(Btw, this is one of my favorite stories because it’s a Harry Potter fanfiction. And I don’t think I need to explain that).
